another 'how much is my bike worth' thread
« on: March 25, 2009, 09:44:35 AM »
i know - sorry. i'm trying to get an idea of a fair value on my '75 CB750F that i recently finished. i hate to do it, but i've got some other projects looming, and it may have to go. here's the thread of the build:

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=39625.0

i did the following:
powdercoat the frame, swingarm, rims, and hubs
carpy front fender, cafe seat and tail light
new reproduction side covers
fresh honda 'galapagos green metallic' paint
shorty stock exhaust with baffle insert
ss front brake lines
modern front brake m/c
new smaller gauges from cycle-x
new bridgestone tires
new bearings, chain, points, brake pads, plugs, battery, etc.
fresh carb rebuild and caliper rebuild (front)
dyna coils and wires
new progressive rear shocks
when i had the motor out i replaced a leaky puck and adjusted the valves
shows just over 40k on the clock, and i have documentation from the PO of an engine rebuild at 20k

probably has some other stuff that i just can't remember right now. i know you never get back what you put into it, but i want to see what a good starting point would be. i don't have to sell right now, but it would get me going on my other stuff. i appreciate any honest opinions.

here's a couple of the latest pics if you don't want to sort through the project thread...

Don't know about a price, but that's very nicely done.....

thanks, guys - i have alot of time into it, and i really love it, but my love for touring and dual sporting is calling me. more specifically, a BMW GS or KTM adventure is calling me! the wife says too many bikes in the stable.

the bike is awesome, but the build and journey were well worth it as well - i love wrenching as much as riding....

ha! i think i get a fair amount of slack, considering three bikes in the garage currently.

so - anyone have any ballpark guesses?

If I had to guess (and it varies on your location) I'd say that's a nice $2750-$3000 bike.

I came close to selling mine too but in the end I had 4 bikes and only one that I'd worked on for over a year with my own two hands (and back).  I sold off every single bike, Norton Commando off to Australia this week and now it's just me and my 750 (Oh and my new Harley Street Glide!!@!@!).

I'll never sell this puppy if I can help it but best of luck whatever you decide.

Its a nice bike and its complete and ready to roll.  I would put it on ebay first and start the bidding at $2500 with a reserve of $3500.  If you don't get the reserve after two tries, go to Craigslist with a set price just above the highest bid.  Good Luck.......I dual sport too
