So this should probably go in the rant thread but, I want to see what other people think and if they are as disturbed as I was.

About an hour and a half ago while I was on my lunch break, I walked out of my coffee shop I've been going to for over two and a half years, almost every single day, and what did I see? Some guy walking with his maybe 3 - 4 year old daughter. She was complaining about something or other and the guy reached out and pulled her hair, hard enough to bring both of her feet off the ground. I was pi$$ed, right away. I yelled some profaine thing at him and started to reach for my phone to call the cops and he turned around and ran over to me and punched me in the stomache. So I proceeded to beat his face like a curly red haired, left handed, step child. Mall security was right there thankfully so after hitting him in the beak about eight times I stepped back and let them take care of it. I gave my statement, I had witenesses that told what they saw which matched up with my story so they took my info and let me go.

Why, in gods name would anyone do that to their kid? Maybe three or four years old? What the hell. I can think of nothing, at all, that would warrent pulling your kids hair like that, ever.

It is hard to keep a positive attitude when you see things like that. It makes me wonder what that little girl has gone through before and what is going to happen to her now.

You know, I can see a swat on the butt or something to get the kids attention but a guy like that deserves a double nut punch from bruce lee.

you are pressing charges... correct?

it is up to you to prove that he is an unfit father... and to put him where he belongs for messing w/ you too.
she should be in protective custody at this point.

I hope she is. Yes I am pressing assult charges, but I don't think the child's wellbeing is in my hands, I am pretty sure that is something the state will determin.

not exactly what i meant... but you will play a very prime role... i agree about the state playing their appropriate role, but sometimes the system is difficult.

mom is a juvenile probation officer
dad was a cop for a long time
stepdad is a retired judge

don't get me started on the system

More than likely her life will hard regardless. System was designed to help kids, but not ALL kids. So after about the first year it was put into use (1940's?) it was overwhelmed and has stayed that way since.

Hopefully they find a good foster home. Some can be just as bad if not worse than the places they were pulled from.

It would've taken every security guard in the place to pull me off of him. Scum like that deserves nothing short of castration.

Without revealing too much about myself, the thing that gets me is my mom used to beat the crap out of me. So I already frown on that kind of stuff. Then ontop of it, being a parent, that doesn't get the oppertunity to see my kid very often, to see someone treat their child with such a lack of respect just makes me sick...

Well you'll be glad to know that his nose looked like an uncooked hamburger patty and his lower lip was cut, not split, but cut all the way through to the gum.

I am pretty sure my hand is broke, I got another hour of work and I'll find out.

Hope your hand feels better.

My mother was a social worker here in IL for the last 30 years. It destroyed her.

After she retired she was like whole new person. Some of her stories though... make you gag.

Yeah, I've felt for a long time, maybe the late, late 50's the that couples that are getting married should have physiological evaluations, monetary evaluations (not whether they're rich but that they are prepared to work and understand about costs) and they sure as hell should be licensed to have kids with all the studying and thinking that goes into licensing and I suppose at that there would be still kids that would be mistreated.

Given how well some can lie or how poor evaluation can be, I doubt it would do much good. It would be nice to hope though.

Good for you.  Children are not raised by one person, they need everyone around them to help.  The best thing is that you actually got to beat the pulp out of the douc**bag instead of a screaming match.  If you ever see him again, be sure to thank him for hitting you and opening the flood gates of self-defense.  If your lucky, he'll hit you again and so starts yet another beating.  It could be cycle for you.  You might be able to cancel your membership at the gym.

 >:(  ;D This is an odd thread, you can feel so much hate, and so happy. Its people like that that the system is in place for. I just wish there were stiffer penalties for pansy's that feel they can hurt someone so small and innocent.

Caaveman nice job,

I work in our children's hospital as a flight nurse and have worked in our intensive care unit for 15 years. The stuff we see would make you puke. Unfortunately, the county, state gov'ts are very reluctant to remove children from their homes.
We are mandatory reporters which means if we ever feel that a child is being abused, physically, mentally, or sexually, we are obligated to make a report and it will not come back on us if we are wrong.
Recently we have had a spike in abuse cases with several children dying in our hospital. Some as young as 3 months old.

Couldn't have said it better Heffay.
I'm a foster, ran away when i was an early teen, got picked up by a foster family, their daughter is my "sister" now, even though I don't talk to the parents much.
Growing up foster and in the system she'll have a better chance than what she did.
Good for you cave, i woulda done the same thing. No one has the right to abuse a kid. Not even their own. ;)

That thought crossed my mind... makes me sick, really sick.

Well the hand is swollen like a baloon but not broke, the doc at the VA tried to give me a high five after I told him the story, I had to retract and hold up my left hand lol.

Ecosse,

I love my daughter and I think kids are seriously important. I really did nothing but get outragged and then attacked. If anyone would see something like that and stand by and do nothing I would completely loose all faith in humanity. Everyone standing around IMMEADITLY started calling the cops. I just did what I thought was right man. I appreciate your kind words, but I really don't feel good about it.
