Ready for restart....1 final oil pump question

Hoping to start her up after nearly 6 months of cleaning, painting and prepping tomorrow and realized I haven't primed the oil pump.  I've read through several posts and have found some conflicting info.

The engine hasn't been rebuilt, but during clean up etc I did take off the oil pan and pump & screen and clean them.  At the moment, there is no oil in the bike.
So, my plan is to add oil to the tank, add a 1/2 quart or so through the tappet covers & put a bit in the smaller oil galley plug at near the points.  Remove spark plugs
and kick her over a few times before hooking up the battery & plugs....

Should this do the trick ?  Or, will I have to drop the oil pan ?   I don't have an oil pressure guage, but am considering adding one.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

I did the same thing forget to prime the pump.
I tried kicken it over to prime it, but didn't notice any oil level chage till I used the starter button. I did spray the cylinders with WD40 first

With the plugs out and kicking 20-30 times fast I can build up to 35 PSI on my pressure gauge for maybe 20 seconds that let's me feel that the bearings have some oil. Dan
