regulator!!!!heating up!!!!!

Hey all
got a 73 750 was out riding and wiring started smokin so xhut it down cleared out a wire got it home reconnected a wire now the system isnt chargeing  when I turn the key on the backside of the regulator gets really hot  have chased back the wireing nothing obvious tryeda diff regulator same thing I have another alternator but wanted some help   HELP  thanx Craig 750 four ever

ive become good with the wiring aspects of the old hondas.after time the wiring and connecters need to be cleaned up.your case woudl be best to get a multimeter and check the alretnator, rectifier,regulator, and coils.most important to check the ground connections first.the green wires are ground. alternator is probably good they hold up well for alot of years.my guess is regulator or rectifier.

Alternators dont go wrong, humans do. Check out the connectors carefully against a diagram
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
