1970 cb750 is it a ko????
« on: March 27, 2009, 10:45:14 AM »
I have talked too quite a few people about this bike i got. the title does not say it is a KO but people i talk to say the parts are a KO. I'm curious about this bike i Hear stuff like sandcast and  I just don't know what I got. if anyone can point me in the right direction as far as title #'s or something along those line to find out what I do have would be very appreciative.

Some sandcasts were titled as 70's (I had one) and a lot of K0's have some sandcast parts.  The VIN should tell you what it is.  I agree, pictures would be great.

My 70's have the build date on the frame neck tag. The chopper says 6-70 the bike with the lesters is 11-69. one day one of them will run. It's exciting to find a K0. Then you realize the parts cost has risen significantly because we share parts with the ultra rare sandcast bikes. If it is relatively complete you probably have done well. Mine, not so much.

Cut to the chase...

give us the build month off the tag.. if its 11/70, it probably did not hit the floor as a KO....

I have a sand cast that is registered as a 70 that has no tag plate.  Just a sticker when the tag goes.  The sticker has not date of manufacture just says at the time of manufacture the bike met all vehicle safety standards at that time.  So look the vin number up if that is the case.

This can all be confusing Don...let me add another thought for you.  I have a KO build date of 1/70 titled as a 70.  Just picked up another 70 build date of 9/70 and titled as a K1.  And it has all the K1 features.

That would be right: the "K" model usually incremented in August (it's rare to find a 750 with an "8" build month, except K3 bikes), while retooling was going on. The K3 started during K2 production, in an additional factory, confusing the issue after that.

I have a K0 with frame #1043488 and motor #E1043601 with a build date of 6/70.  The bike came used to me with HM300 exhaust but had the cam-carbs of the K1 and later models.  Possible conversion?

According to the Honda Guide, the K1 series starts at frame #1044650 and motor #E1044860.
