Because of the f'n rain spent the day wondering the dealers in the area, Harley 1200XLR is nice!
Spotted a big new Indian Motorcycle building along 85 south in Gastonia NC, went in, nice people. Learned a few things.
They make them in Kings Mountain NC, cool!
Four models based on the same running gear, a 105 cubic inch V twin, fuel injected. Baker six speed coupled to what looks like a Pirelli belt drive. should be quiet running.
Indian will make only 750 bikes this year, this dealer had 2 1/2% of this years production on his floor...
Detail leather work is beautiful, so is the paint and chrome on the bikes.
Lowest price for plain black solo $31,000... (1200XLR was $11,385) Red cost $199, any two tone is $899. Highest base is $36,000.
Three bikes in service, one with the jugs off, not a good sign, but to be expected if they are making a new motor.
My question is why didn't they improve the inline four from the 1940 Indian rather then make what looks like a Victory clone? (just me being snotty...)
