Topic: honda cb350f exhaust

i have a 1973 cb350f im trying to replace my exhaust tip to something with a little more of a low loud tone to it. just a deep roar. i currently have the mac 4 into 1 was wondering what would do it. also does anyone make a 4 into 2 for this bike. im trying to find a blck exhaust that will work if not ill keep the 4 into 1 but just want something nicer sounding. will anything fit on the actual tip? i saw one on youtube with a jardine exhaust that sounded pretty good.

I think you're going to have a hard time getting a low tone out of a 350.  Loud is easy.  Low, not so much. 

There are definitely 4-2 exhausts available for the 350.  I don't know the specifics, but it seems like most 350f's still on the road have them because the stock pipes rusted out quickly.  If you don't still have the stock header pipes it might be more difficult as most of the 4-2 exhausts I've seen on these attach to them.

A copy of the original 4 into 4 system is now available from David Silver, also there is a 4 into 2 from an Italian manufacturer I think, see Looneymoon's bike.

if you're looking for a 4-2 these are the options that I know of:

1) the jardine system you mentioned. I've seen used ones on ebay.

2)i think Mac made turnout mufflers that mated to the original headpipes. Pretty sure they don't make it anymore.

3) I had a 4-2 system on my bike made by MC. It's been a while but NOS sets used to pop up on ebay. Here's the system on my bike:





As gordon said, I think a low sound would be pretty difficult to find with an engine as small and revvy as the 350f.

I have a 350F and a 400...LOW is a bit of wishful thinking...

But one very cool thing is that when Rev'ed up to 7000 - 10,000 they emit a wonderful Banshee wail that makes the air on the nape of ya neck stand up

As far as volume, your 4 into 1 mac probably is louder than the 4 into 2's out there, but like kghost elluded to, the 4 into 2's can make a good bit of noise when in their wheelhouse.   
I love the sound of my 4 into 2 jardines. 
From what i've read, the 4 into 4's are even quieter.

How bout' the Marshell Deeptone 4-1? I haven't heard how they sound but with a name like 'deep tone' they should be a little less tingy than other 4-1's

Bumping this for more info...I'm trying to get my newly aquired 350F road worthy and NJ inspection worthy and I'm running into the same problems. I have a MAC 4-2 setup and both mufflers/slip ons are in rough shape. The headers look good and I was hoping to reuse them with some other slip ons but after having a better look I see that the slip on portion is actually 2 pipes into 2 for each side, with the "Y" being part of the muffler. I was thining of having someone fab up or find a 2 into 1 Y piece that would work but I'm open to any good options right now.

Ah the joys of having no state inspection here.  Makes up, in part, for not being able to register a bike without a title here.  I think I just saw a set of the Y adapters you speak of on eBay.  I think they were at $100 last I saw...

Looneymoon's bike had the Mivv slip-ons installed, which are 4 into 4 that utilize the stock headers.  I have the same installed on mine.  Have a listen to the attached for what they sound like.
