Hi everyone,

As stated, I'm new here but not to bikes; over 30 years in riding. Mostly Euro stuff for the last 25.

On a fluke, I recently 'acquired' this 1975 CB750K (the PO owed me for storage) but welcomed it in, as I've always faniced a 8v cafe ride or maybe even a Rickman CR. The bike has about 50K, a 16" rear wheel (I have the original) and a rattle can paint job. Since this photo, I have tossed the fairing in the skip and cleaned it up some. It actually runs pretty good, although I have not spent any time tuning or fussing. Just some new plugs, and lube/adjust the chain.







I realize there is a lot of ways to go, but this particular example caught my eye while I was searching for something else. I think the owner posts here...I found these pictures on a road racing car site. Maybe he'll get in touch?





Well, that's it except to ask if there is any really good, preferred sources for aftermarket goodies? My initial plan besides bars, header and some trimming is to keep the bike basically stock. That is, if the engine proves to be solid. If it isn't, who knows? I'd rather not spend a ton of money on it right now. I always say that, but have several other bikes and a R75/5 on the lift that isn't finished...

Great first post! :)  Pictures and everything!

If you're in need of parts, look in the FAQ under "where can I buy parts for my sohc4?".  It's a very comprehensive and regularly updated list of suppliers.

if you ever ditch that 16" rim, I'd be interested in it... is it aluminum?

That front tire sidewall looks pretty tired. 

Sounds like you got a decent runner to turn into a cafe.

No, it's plated steel.

I'm not sure if I'll keep it or not. I am not sure what kind of ground clearance I'll have with the 4-onto-1 and that, far as I can tell is the only real issue...besides tire availability. The lower seat height is a plus. I'm also not sure just how good it'll handle (with decent tires) and just how hard I'll try to ride it. I'm used to stuff like this;



A really good handling bike, the Lemon.

Another option is the Rickman kit, which -admittedly- makes the whole project a huge undertaking. i am sort of torn between the English Endurance or classic Ace Cafe' naked.



I know which would be cheaper tho- ;D

I've not seen that Rickman before - got a source?

Weird the way that the front brake caliper hangs out over the disk - also not seen one with non-horizontal decals!

The brothers, Don and Derek (I've met Derek) stopped making the kits in the mid-80 and licensed production to a new company. Thet started by making dirt frames then ventured into street and road racing production. They were known best for their "Metisse" (French for 'mongrel') nickle plated frame and body kits. For a time in the mid-1970s, Rickman WAS the English motorcycle industry! Here's something I wrote for my site:

Welcome to the group!  Just a suggestion...........if your inclined to go for the Rickman.......you could get a good start by following the wheels and controls theme.  Then if you get the Rickman body work and/or the frame, your ready to go.  Hint.......look for info on modern fuels versus fiberglass tanks!

$250 is way too much for that.

It would sell for about £40-£50 in UK.

I'm not so sure about that...it is genuine and frankly, pretty hard to find. I'm tempted!!

$250 isn't outlandish for that fairing in the US.  You'll spend more with Airtech, then at  Gustafson getting a windscreen, and then at painting then if you buy it.

Send some of those UK fairings this way then!

I just got a CR750 tail from AIRTECH! Very nice, diggin it.Took about 3 or 4 weeks, but worth it.
