Which Motorcycle pants?
« on: October 18, 2005, 06:19:10 AM »
I need to get some motorcycle pants. Ive been looking at leather vs nylon (kevlar?)  What do you guys suggest for protection? Ive been looking at the first gear brand leather pants, but they also have the pants that have armor in the knees and hips ect, that arent leather. Do they both provide adequete protection in case you fall off? Guess my point is, to hell with the wind and rain protection, if you fall off and dont have any skin left. I would like to NOT get leather pants, only because i think its wierd looking, but will get them if the others do not provide protection in case you fall off. What do you guys suggest?

No duster, salt does not have a K8 anymore, I think he regrets it though!

What to racers wear? They do not do the leather and for good reason. Leather does block wind and rain and also keeps your skin from being able to breathe and so you sweat more and it cannot escape plus it makes you stinky!

The nylon provides just as much if not more protection plus it has the pads built in. You can get matching jackets too with the armor in it.

Leather does have one good thing. The jackets can look cool but if you were too much leather you will look like one of the village people and probably visit the Blue Oyster bar!

This does remind me of something funny I saw this summer though.
I went to a bike giveaway(they have to give harleys away now for people to want them!) and some people would drive up in their trucks and get out THEN put on leather chaps to make it LOOK like they rode a motorcycle! Talk about fake!

Dead serious on this one.  They put on their chaps AFTER they go to the give away. I mean if you are going to fake it, at least put them on BEFORE you leave your home!

I always thought motorcycle racers wore full leather suits.   ???

I mostly wear Carhart double knees untill it gets cold- then leather. Around here, the touring guys all wear Aerostitch suits, and the AHRMA racers all wear full leather w armor.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!
