Topic: 550 drag Pipes- will 76 fit 78550K?

I was wondering will pipes for 76 550  fit a 1978 550 K?

yes, but depending on whether the 76 was a K or F you may have to fab mounts.  If there both K, than you shouldn't have a problem.

The truth of the matter is .. i am not sure which it it...how do you tell?

The F(super sport) would be a 4-1 header, the K a 4-4.

CB550 Fs have an F in Vin number on the headstock.

I was under the impression that drag pipes were so different from stock configuration, that it wouldn't matter if it was an F or K.  I never paid much attention to them really, though.  They'll be loud. (I've lost enough hearing already).  And, the engine will run like crap until you rejet the carbs properly.

The exhaust port mating interface is the same for all CB550's.  No problem there.  Do the ends of them have a mount anywhere?

I was really suprised that they were loud but not as bad or annoying as some that I have heard... sounding like a bunch of angry bumble bees

As to mounts, yes, at the engine end they have a round plate with two holes that mount over two studs at each outlet and at other end mounts that fir on same bolt as foot pegs.

But, My bike sets tooooooo Low to use them.

The reason I asked is I that Ihave them at ebay and the question was asked of me. and didn't know, and knew someone here would.
