Topic: I need new brakes... where can i find them 1980 cb-650c

Well, the diagnosis is not good. My already limited funding is about to take another shot to the gut. A motorcycle mechanic told me that I need a new master cyclinder and that I should probably consider getting a whole new brake set up. 1) I cant for the life of me get the master cylinder out I have tried taking the screw out with liquid wrench, and finally tried to press it out to no avail. (the bolt holding the brake lever on) so I tried everything I could to clean the master cyclinder with compressed air but its shot. So I need help to find a new front brake setup, or an idea that I may not have tried for the brake lever bolt. I bought the bike with the understanding that the brake just needed to be bled out and all i want to do is get out and ride.( I do have the clymers manual for the cb 650 too)

Sorry to be thick here, but you are referring to the bolt that the break lever (the one you grab) pivots on correct? Are you unable to get the nut off? Worst case scenario, if it is this one, can you cut it off with a hack saw, or if you are fortunate enough to own one, a Dremel with a cut off wheel? Pics would help a ton in knowing what you are up against if you can get them.

ahh let me shed light on this. the nut shown in the picture holding the bolt is not there, it was on the thread.(Its just the pivoting bolt) I plain and simple cant get the f#$#ing bolt out.

There are at least 2 parted out 1980 cb650's on ebay right now. I saw a few front brakes (whole thing, not just cyl) on there. You might get a pretty good deal. Good luck.
