Wow.
What a week on the bike. I had a terrible experience witha slip out ( Slide) yesterday near home. I have just supplied my rims with two NEW Bridgestone Spitfires on 250Ks. I managed to notice a sort of slip on a corner on the beast last week and it has been able to get to me so to speak. I even thought that there may have been a leak from the L/H alternator side cover with disasterous results$$$$.
I managed to get to my home and settle down.
I was just sitting on the beast with the engine off and was lowering it to the side stand when I felt a little 'clunk' through the front axel.
This morning after a sleepless night I pulled the bride out of the fart sack and she helped me put the K5 on the center stand supported by a thin plan1" plank so as to enable the rear wheel to rotate as I have put some 22mm too hight shockies!! Dumbkoff?!
I have a stuffed RH wrist.
On inspection.The front wheel was sliding on the axel approx 3mm.
I loosened the two retaining bolts under the LH fork and tightened the 22mm axel nut slightly and allowed the wheel to still spin freely. The disc brake was free from drag.!!
Later I undid the rear wheel and using a small broom handlethrough the spokes, I simply pulled the whole wheel by placing my size 10 boots on the rear pegs and tried to pull the wheel off the bike.
The wheel managed to come back some what and the wheel spun freely with out chain chatter. The adjusters were reset and the main axel retaining nut tightened correctly of course.
Lubed the chain with castrol chain oil. I have disregarded the locator indicators on the swingarm.
The beast has never been better at handling. NO vibration through the front bars and the front brake has stopped squeeling!! Almost a pleasure to ride. Look mum NO hands.
