UNUSUAL BRAKE DISC I.D.???
« on: April 02, 2009, 12:48:56 PM »
These have ALOT of custom machining done to them. Don't fit a CB750 hub (too small) and has 5 bolt holes. Only clue I have is owner told me they were on an aftermarket mag wheel unknown brand. 1970's era.
  Any good guesses?

Those  look like they'd fit an airhead beemer....if you're looking to get rid of them, I'd have a happy home for 'em... ;)

Yeah, I was just gonna say they looked like they'd fit a Comstar.

They look like Mark Zero's

Can you take a chord measurement  (c-to-c across 2 bolt holes)

11" (278mm) overall disc diameter

2 1/2" (57mm) disc center opening

1 3/4" (45mm) center distance between adjacent bolt holes

2 7/8" (73mm) center distance between every other bolt holes

Who...is Mark Zero??

How big is the overall diameter? Could be for a dyson hub like the ones Dunstall used to use for the domiracers.

Edit: 11" I think is too big for the early dyson hubs. I will look at the set I have at home and see.

Mark Zero  Ent. made brakes in the70,s.

Most of the wheel makers did not.

Halsraft did for their wire wheels, so did Rickmam, but most makers of mags did not.

Okay, I'll see if I can lend some light on these. They are by Mark-O. The fitment is custom. The last set that came up on eBay (item 180321669689 end time  Jan-24) sold for $45. I know because my sniping software was a couple seconds off and I missed the bid.

If you're going to sell them, since I could still use a set for a custom application, I'm calling dibs. PM me if you want to discuss it. Thanks. RR

I figured RR had mentioned them before..

I think they were one of the very first custom brake discs on the market..

I'll try and make myself remember to measure a Comstar rotor when I get home unless someone beats me to it.

Ok.  A comstar rotor is as follows:

10 7/8" Outer Diameter (close enough to 11")

2.300" Disc Center Opening

1.185" Center Distance between adjacent bolt holes

Guess it's not from a Comstar.  It could be an 80's suzuki wheel, they were 5-hole rotor.
