I thought we had a rule that the same bike couldn't win BOTM twice, unless there were radical changes made to the bike.

I don't really like the idea of someone being able to win twice for the same bike, and it's not like we are lacking for good looking bikes to nominate.  I guess I just don't see the point of letting someone win twice unless the original bike that won is drastically different the second time around.

Just my opinion though.

Good point.

Forget what I said! ;D

What about all the Darwinist's out there? If a bike is so good that it keeps beating out the competition?  That's one bad-ass bike!  I think the "once a year" rule is pretty solid.

Just my 2 cents.

SOHC-FOUR motorcycle of the month rules:

1.   the SOHC4 motorcycle must be owned by the forum member (we’ll take your word for it)
2.   user must be nominated by another member, no self nominations
3.   a nomination must be made, seconded and accepted within the allotted timeframe (if you do not accept a seconded nomination by the 15th of the month, you/your bike will not be included in the contest for SOHC4 of the month)
4.   please refrain from topics other than motorcycle of the month within these particular threads
5.   if you nominate another user that has multiple motorcycles, state which one you would like to nominate
6.   the motorcycle must be a Honda SOHC4

HOW IT WORKS:

1.   monthly nominations will begin at the beginning of the month and run until the 15th
2.   from the 16th to the end of the month a poll setup will be used to vote
3.   users will not be able to view the results until the contest has ended each month
4.   the user with the most votes wins bike of the month

NOTE:  each month, a forum moderator will setup the nomination and voting threads.  Please do not start one yourself as it may become quite confusing.

Small prizes may be awarded depending on availability.  If you'd like to donate an item to be awarded please speak with a moderator.

Lastly, January through November we will vote on "bike of the month", in December we will vote for "bike of the year" based on all the 11 winners of "bike of the month" throughout the year.

we don't have a set rule, although, it has been discussed before... there is no rule.
soooooo, at this point... DME is welcome to be in the contest if he would like to accept.
i may start a new thread asking for input but we won't be changing rules right in the middle of a contest.

Not trying to sound like an a$$ (tiz why I just said thank you) but I was referring to following the rules, considering the addition of the previous BOTM winner part to the rules, not forcing the hidden rule this month and treating this issue as I would have.

When this rule is added, a list of the BOTM winners in one place and on the rules thread would be helpful to everyone in my mind.  I know, you will be having a discussion or something on it.

Wouldn't know if you cared but it brought back a lot of the respect I had for you from the start of me joining this place.  You know what I am talking about.

Not trying to get in an argument or whatever.  Not trying to sound like an a$$ even though it may be read as such.

All kewl, here.

We've already got one of those lists, though it looks like it hasn't been updated in a couple of months:

That can be a lot to go through.  Linked on the rules page could help some as well if a short, typed list could not be added.

Hello,

I have one doubt about the nomination process... How do the nominated get to know that he or she is nominated? Does he/she receive any comunication of the nomination?

The person who nominates a bike needs to PM the person who owns or built the bike to let them know what a great honor you have bestowed upon them, and so that they can accept.

its also part of the acceptance... if you don't care enough about bike of the month to watch for and accept your nomination... then you really shouldn't be in the contest anyway.

bike of the month has been up and running long enough that those interested, check it regularly.

Hello,

Some of you say I must send a PM to the owner of my nominated bike, but Heffay says the opposite... As I'm not sure if the nominated is a new member or not, I have decided to send a PM to him (basically because I would like the bike to accept nomination), but I understand what Heffay says, and in fact I agree with him. So as this is my first nomination I have sent the PM, but I promise not to do it again.

Hope this is ok,

Salvatore

"need" is not the correct term... its not a rule.

but sure... let them know you nominated them.  no problem w/ that.

I've always PMed the person figuring it a polite thing to do. Besides, what better way to encourage interest in BOTM?

Got a PM from GigaWhiskey saying my bike is nominated for BOTM...  again.

Well, what can I say?
Just to be nominated is an honour, and to be seconded is even better. Thanks a lot, guys!  :)

On the other hand, the bike has won it already and it hasn´t had anything changed after that. The new Webcam and the headwork has all been postponed after I bought my house.

So, to accept or not to accept? Heck, I dont know.

A bit weird to compete with the same bike twice so therefore I think i will pass on this one...

Cheers and thanks a lot anyways!

I woke up this morning to find my baby nominated and seconded for May BOTM.  I happily accept the nomination and will get some better pictures after the frost burns off today.  As I look at the competition I am truly impressed with the work people have done.  My road bike is pretty humble in comparison.

Thanks
