Confliclting results on dual disk set up

I have read and saved many links here regarding dual disk set ups.  I'm a bit stupid, but ??????

72CB750K Lester Mags.

This one http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=41218.msg425484#msg425484 indicates it has to fit inside the rotor opening? What opening? I just don't see how that is going to fit on the side of my wheel? 

I read this one which indicated what I thought would be correct http://www.sohc4.net/index.php?title=Dual_disc_conversion  and I am still a smidgen to wide.

I also read this one http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=25392.msg260585#msg260585 but shiver at the thought of grinding away on my Newly finished Lester wheels.

What kills me is this fricin wheel came with dual disks and the wheel fit and spun!!!!
  It should have just buttoned back up.
But the speedo may not have been functional?
What am I missing here? 
This is what it looked like when I got it 2 years ago.

How about - you got the speedo drive on the wrong side ??

The pictures from Mcpuffet shows the speedo plate as "modified" looks like a stock KO hub,(16mm tall), Yours,as pictured should be about (21.5mm) tall if you set them on their sides to compare heights,when it's shown modified by grinding off the wings,the entire face needed to be ground off mine. My lester front wheel is 2.15 inner bead faces for the tire compared to 1.85 stock rim, made it so I have to pull one caliper off the leg and wrestle the tire and wheel off so I got lazy and left the bike with only one disk.         Head
PS This may be a reason?      I have the pic's of the parts but I can't get them to post here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That one says Honda CB 500 or 550 four, they will work for 750 K3 onward

Mine is a K2 with Lester wheels.  I still don't think that is an apples to apples comparison

I just don't see where that bent flange will slip into on mine, and don't want to completely bangle the thing if it won't work. ???

mate you have to machine it to fit in the centre of the disc, then bend or make a tab to drive on the flats on the hub.

i am not near my bike (its in astralia, im in new zealand) so cant take it off to show you.

This is what I ended up with.  The rotor had two slots milled in the mounting face, and the drive plate was modified to fit inside the rotor bore.

500 and 750 hub are the same and on the honda there are two "flats" milled on the boss that sticks out so the plate drives off those. The later drive plate was designed to stop speedo needle flutter.
Only difference on early 750 is you neeed the mirror image bracket to bolt to the fork leg which were originally only made in magnesium and are now unobtaiium but i understand you can modify a standard one with a file and washers

Instead of grinding flats in your wheel for the speedo drive plates to fit into, when you modify the stock speedo drive plate, bend the tabs out (like the GL 1000, pictured on bottom, 2nd from right).  The bolt heads should keep the drive plate from spinning, or you can get the GL 1000 chrome cover for the drive plate (pictured above the speedo drive plate) to dress it up.

 B, has to engace the slot to actually rurn the drive.

Maybe your wheel is turned around, should go into the side with the milled flats on the  disc snout.

I have taken the "ears" off of the drive plate before, drilled 2 holes, and drilled and tapped tiny screws into the hub to hold the drive plate to it. The only catch: do this with it well centered, like with the drive all assembled, then mark everything well, then disassemble and make the locating holes. I ran mine that way for 10 years, worked great.

The wheel is not "backwards" I don't even think you could put speedo on wrong side of these wheels.

I have cut the speedo drive this morning, still having some fit issues.
All drawings I see show Axel going in from NON speedo side "left" . Is that correct?

 I'm not positive (I put other front ends on my bikes) but I think the axle goes in from the speedo drive side.
 Whale's look like it is on the speedo side and so do your old pics.
 Did you swap the forks (side to side ) to reverse the calipers?

Like you said, it fit before, should be able to see axle end in pic.

 So, something is reversed, or powder buildup, or you are trying a speedo drive plate that is not yet modified...

Not sure if this has been mentioned or is common knowledge but the Lester does not have the flats machined into the hub.  Therefore modifying the speedo drive will not work.  You need to machine the back of the 2nd disk to accept the speedo drive.  Hope this helps.

Just looked at a LESTER front,, and it was not notched, and you could not turn it around.. except if he reversed, everything must go with it..
