I guess I should have posted a build thread a long time ago.
here's the story-

I was working for Directv at the time, and pulled up to a customers house for a Hi-Def upgrade. In the driveway was this dusty bike under a pile of old blankets.
I lifted the cover a little, and behold! it was a '71 CB750.
I talked to the customers wife who said they were waiting for the salvation army to come pick it up, and they were late.
I said "oh don't do that, I'll take it and give it a good home"
she called her husband and he said it was cool, and he had the title!

I got it home and this is how it looked.

first thing I did was to drill out and paint the rotor gold

then I stripped, rebuilt, and painted the caliper.

Changed the boots, stripped and polished the top tree, polished the fork lowers, and put some clubmans on.

did some white letter tires and a 16x4.25 inch Akront rim.
got a dunstall tank and square seat.
I no longer like the seat.

found it necessary to remove the passenger peg mounts and every tab that was unused

"holes" seems to be the theme running through this bike

around this time I replaced the headlight, headlight bucket, turn signals, carburettors, and throttle cables.

then my transmission took a crap. and I found out there was more wrong with the engine than I thought.
(LOTS of SAND inside)

must pry these parts off!!

would've fixed it but the cost was too much, so I replaced the motor.
the K8 motor was only 100 bucks.
the K1 motor is on the back burner for now.

did a 1980 cb750 DOHC swingarm swap.

I think they go together well too, I just want a little "less" behind me.
if they made a squarer version of this, it would be great-
I may end up making my own.

maybe something like this, but cut the bottom so its up-turned a little bit.

never thought of it before but a yamaha seca seat would be cool too,

Ok, that first picture of you and the motor with the hammer... I actually Laughed out Loud and spit some coffee! That is Hilarious! Great build. Your dedication to drilling all those holes is incredible.

Is your seat fiberglass? Have you considered cutting it down a little yourself? The overall shape is nice, but I can see where it would look better shorter.

yeah the seat's fiberglass, and I'd do that if fuzzy didn't want it.

I was thinking of getting an 80's seca 550 seat and making a mold of it.
then I'd change it up a little- because the angle isn't right on the cb750 frame.

I need something short 'cause I wanna cut and brace the rails after the shocks to make the wheel look like it sticks out off the bike more.

The 80's Seca has potential for sure. I'm curious how much lighter your bike is with all those Holes!?!

HAHA! I don't know, I just like the way they look.
I did notice the pieces feel like you're holding nothing, compared to before the drilling.
I it did all with an 18v dewalt. (drill press gone missing)

I need to get it painted and such, the seat and tank are just raw gelcoat.
