It's supposed to snow some more the next few days, but today was lovely. All the snow is all gone here and things are drying-up quite nicely. The sun was out all day although there still was a nip in the air.
I fired-up the CB160 and after getting a dribbling float-bowl leak resolved. It was a blast taking the little twin (its an OHC at least) out for its first spin this year. It seemed very eager to run and was quite peppy I thought. It easily ran up to 50mph in third before I grabbed fourth, and then fifth (its modified with a five-speed cluster) was quick to follow at 60. It seemed to have no trouble with reaching an indicated 70 and would have charged further onwards if I had desired. Then it was the CB350F's turn, and I reflected how I was then getting onto a machine with pistons about the same size as the 160 - but double the number. While the ride was definitely smooth and refined, it almost seemed not to be as quick-spirited. In fact, 70 was more of a struggle it seemed. Time to try a carb sync, I guess.
We grab the chance as it occurs. Riding again is always a treat early in the season or whenever the snow clears. (I once rode on Christmas day a few years ago!) Too bad my brothers in Quebec probably will be legally restricted until April 15 next year. That is, unless they can find some snow tires!
