1976 cb 750f side cover color
« on: April 05, 2009, 04:52:26 PM »
HI, I am a new member and know nothing about computers. It has took me months to figure out how to join this club and ask a question. At least I know something about bikes I have had a few. I purchased two 76 750f project bikes about 2 years ago, I have most all the major work compleated, bought original side covers but have not been able to tell if the original covers
were gloss black or a flattened black
I even bought an original 1976 Cycle World magazine theres one on the cover but no color pictures inside.
After all that doe's anybody know for sure what color they should be. Thanks! this is a great website, I hope I learn how to use it and can be a help if anybody needs it.

Hello Ark,

Always good to have a new member with taste. Those 4 pipe boys on here are another matter.  ;)
The side covers are factory Phantom Black and are not gloss. I have a NOS (new old stock) set for my restoration that I paid dearly for. I could attempt to take a picture if you'd like but it would probably be easier to email to get the true detail. So I'm hoping you filled in the details when you signed up. I also have my current set that I had clear coated glossy to protect them when I bought them 30 years ago. I kinda like the clear coated ones better but the flat Phantom Black is correct for my restore.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Hey Gordon I have no idea what or where the old bike run is. Thanks

It's a yearly ride here in the Denver area for classic bikes.  Last year, due to the close proximity of all the bikes while still in the downtown area, Jerry and I almost got to know each other a little too well. :o  I was just giving him a hard time for his comment about us 4-pipers.

I really shouldn't tease him, though.  It's a classic case of exhaust pipe envy! ;)
