cb750 gear ratios?
« on: April 07, 2009, 07:38:56 PM »
I put a k8 motor in my k1, and used the same sprockets.
Now the gear ratios seem closer and 5th gear cruises around 5200 rpms at 60 mph.

My question is, are the gear ratios different from 1971 to 1978, or am I imagining things?
everything I say is pure speculation and
I have no idea what I'm talking about  ._.

Hi IC,

The '77 & '78 had different gear ratios from the earlier K's as you got up into 4th and 5th gear...... they also had a different overall gear reduction.

Earlier K's Primary reduction = 1.708
     77, 78 Primary reduction = 1.985

Earlier K's 4th gear = 1.907
     77, 78 4th gear = 1.133

Earlier K's 5th gear = .939
     77, 78 5th gear = .969

Hope this helps..... ;)
