HP increase on cb650
« on: April 17, 2005, 07:33:26 AM »
I am in the middle of a re ring job on my 81 CB850. I am also installing a MAC 4 into 1 system and K&N pod filters and a dynojet jet kit.(stage three)  What kind of horsepower increase can I expect from the exhaust, jets, and filters. Anybody know where I can get a better camshaft? Anybody who can share any experiance with these parts would be great.

Thanks ;D

I don't know that much about it, but Web Cam makes performance camshafts for the 500/550/750. I couldn't find the 650 on the list, but if you contact them they might be able to help you. But to get a full effect of a hotter camshaft, you should also prepaire the cylinder head. New valve springs, check the valve guides, valve seats and valves, and porting the cylinder head.

Thanks!
But they didn't have the 650 camshaft listed either.

For anybody interested in a camshaft for your CB650. I just got off the phone with web cam and they can do a performance regrind on your stock cam. If you want to get really wild they can hard weld your stock cam (add more material to it) and go even further.

The regrind is $140 and the hard weld was like $350. Due to the summer coming up the wait right now for a regrind is about five weeks. Im going to send them a old 650 cam I have so they can do it and just run my stock cam for untill I get it back.

Sounds like a lot for maybe at the very most 10 hp.  Would have to do the head also to maximize it.
