Are you going to have a prototype made up first so all of us can view the finished piece ? If your friend is going to
make these, can't he help in the cost factor sense he's going to profit on the one's made in the future ?
I know it's tuff to get started. I've tried a couple of custom projects myself and failed. I guess the demand for
these cb big blocks is low because MTC, APE, and WEISCO would be making them other wise. I'm really interested
in what the finished piece will look like ! What would a unfinished bore block cost ? I want to install my own sleeves.

Thanks Mike, once i see what it is going to look like i would be prepared to put down a deposit if that will help at all.

This project will be going forward in 4 to 6 weeks as funds allow. I realize people want to "see" a product and I completely understand that position. What people have to realize it takes a good bit of start up money.....we are not not talking "Third World" CAD designs. 3 or 4 blocks/heads plus 3 engine cases to measure. I am working on it and it will happen.

Can you do a wax prototype (painted black or silver) or a virtual rendering so we can see how big the finning is, etc..

I am thinking the right toolpaths on the base of the cylinders, could help gasket retention.. ie circular pattern sorta like a record..

obviously there's a business motivation here, but from an enthusiast's point of view, i wanna say thanks to mike and all involved for this deal. i see bunches of stuff for the kawasaki and it's heartening to see more investment into the sohc's.

I'm bringing the cases, cylinders, heads to my friend Friday to start the measuring/designing....I'm not quite sure how much time that will take but it shouldn't be to long. And yes...I want nikasil bores. I figure we can get the bore to + .001 of the piston OD and send it to Millenium for the final hone and plating. I'll take some pics as things progress that's for sure.

Well....everything is in place. We are looking at captured o rings around the return galleys, o ringed deck, running sleeves as opposed to Nickasil and other details. This will be very nicely done guys. Fin width, depth and spacing will be similar to the 750 head. I'll keep you fellas up to date with pics etc. I have to admit I'm a bit excited and I don't get excited about old bike stuff much anymore.

I have sleeves but i would love to know what the problem is with nikasil bores. Was it too expensive? Please let me know as this is still the way i would like to go.

Mick....the sleeves comment was if someone wants to run them can it be built into the design. I want Nickasil and it that is that.

It is about expanding the design parameters as it is far easier building latitude into the design now as opposed to changing things later.

SO, whats the story here? Is there a line forming? How close are we to having the 5 people that are needed. Its hard to tell from the thread who is really in and who is just interested.
Is there a time frame goal? I'm interested at this point and would probably be a certain "yes" as the prototype shows up. Been watching the thread as it develops. Just thought it was time to let you know I'd be willing to cough up the $1200.

The "no sleeve" option seems most appealing to me as I'd like to actually ride with the motor built from this block and cooling might be key.
