So results of running CR29 carbs with no filters are!
« on: April 08, 2009, 11:46:57 AM »
Pretty serious gum on both sides of the carbs, very bad dirt on inner throats.  Not that the bike was running badly but I thought it was time to take them off and go over everything again, glad I did.  I'm going to think about filters now.

We have never had anything like that with the CR Sweep, we also don't run filters.

That gum is gas related.  What type of gas are you running? brand and octane level?  I run Shell or Sunoco high-test and mine are clean as a whistle.

sorry about your luck.

Thanks for the info guys.  Sparty I use Exxon because there's one here in town but for damned sure I'll go the extra mile to the Sunoco and try that out.

Air filters are a conspiracy---I don't run 'em on anything.
I do use screens-to keep out leaves and small birds.

There is your problem.  Exxon has the worst record for refining their oil.  Their gas will leave a varnish after a tank full.  Don't use it.

I like Sunoco for 2 reasons(I guess now 3).  1. It is the Official fuel of NASCAR, and 2, none of it comes from the Middle East.
Go metric, every inch of the way!
