So I'm working on my bike today and a friend drops in to see me. We've worked a lot of jobs together in the past and we also go back about 35 years. He wants me to take a ride with him to check out his next project, a house he has just picked up at auction. As added inticement he says to me..."You're not going to believe what's in the garage...a Supersport." So off we go, me expecting at the very least to pick up a parts bike for mine, a '78 750F, or better yet my next project. The house is huge and not in bad shape, just seriously neglected. It will be a nice project.
After checking out the house we head out to the garage. It's full of crap. Old furniture, skis, boxes of paperwork, doors etc., etc. All of it water damaged dumpster fodder. There in the back corner I spot the bike...a 400F! I can't believe it! It is a total mess. Lots of rust and corrosion but pretty much all there from what I could see. The light was poor, the rain was coming in and it was kind of buried. He says it's mine for the taking once the property is officially in his name. We may take it out of there before that. My next project! To top it off he's already talking about letting me take over the garage as a shop space, which I need badly. Some days it pays to get up.
