Author Topic: Fork Brace for CB750K 77-78 Fast from the past #22-0037 (Read 18180 times)

i have been eye balling Fast from the past's Fork brace and they say Euro Cb750 ONLY? so i emailed Jim at FFTP and he said that some cust.. said it didnt fit? so i'm wondering if you guys can confirm that euro forks are different on the K model?

is it tooo small or tooo big???
35mm fork tube 56mm of the lower fork stanchion where the fork brace clamps. and 182mm center to center between fork tubes.

wasnt the 77-78 us spec "K" basicly a 76,75 super sport??? but without the rear disk?? and K tank and seat

I got it from them and it is too small. It's not even close to fitting over the top section of the lowers. I'll try to take measurements from both my forks and the brace when I get home tonight.

ok so i emailed Jim at Fast from the past! and asked him for some pictures.. of the 22-0024 here is what it looks like...

now what part is tooo small the HOLE?? in that fits around the forks... do you think that the one with the 58mm hole would be better??? maybe the problem is that its not arched and it will interfeer with the fender??? i will ask for pictures of the 22-0037

The holes were too small on my brace. They are intended to fit around the very top of the lower fork (ie the widest part where the dustcover would normally be) I am installing without a fender, so I don't know about any clearance issues there.

so they make a pertty much same model as the 22-0024 altough the 22-0037 the hole is bigger (58mm instead of 56mm) sooo only thing is the top looks like its made to have our dust covers to mount on from the 76 F bike which i think is the same as our 77 K bike because honda used a slightly different for on the 77-78F bike...

22-0037 Fork Brace Honda CB750F1 ..Super Sport 1976 35mm Fork 58mm mounting hole 182mm across! (althought) its not arched??? isnt the fender the same on the 76F and the 77K??

my thought is that you can make anyone of these fit the us Model Cb750 for CHEEP he only wants $100 for these braces and the difference is HUGE i've ridden my friend Sportster with one b4 and after and WOW what a difference!

and the bottom pic is of one installed with our style forks?

BTW these fork braces are NOT PLASTIC they are aluminum with a black coated finish!

I had the same issue, too. Jim said they were too small to fit on my '77, so I skipped. I ended up swapping front ends to go for the older gator'ed forks.

after looking at the Honda parts Fische for a while now and looking at other models i think the fork brace for the 76Cb 750F is the correct match now only think to concern us is the fender clearence!

the 22-0024 doesnt fit because its got a 56mm hole

the 22-0037 should fit because its got a 58mm hole

i just measured my stock forks and they are 58mm

so i should be able to get that brace and shave a little off and reattatch my dust boots

i'm gunna go for it

next will be rear shocks/ springs! my progressive install is killer so now i see that my rear shocks stink

I measured my forks and the diameter is 58mm. The diameter of the brace is 56mm. Here are some pics:

You can also get the dust boots that sit inside the fork tube rather than go around it. I think that should work with the brace. Might look cleaner too.

The F3 legs are 56mm. bunghole I can use that brace if you cannot.

How much would it cost to have them machined 1mm on each side of that two piece clamp, then the other end too of course. Wouldn't that give you 2mm more clearance? or am I brain dead? It is Friday

you would need to take 2mm off each side.... because the HOLE is 56mm you would need to PUNCH it out to 58MM!!!!!!!!

but i think it would look pretty awesome to have a funtional fork brace for the cb750's

looks like there is some for the 550's and i posted the chart that gives the sizes so you can figure out which one you need for your bikes

56mm plus 2mm on each side would give you a diameter of 60mm. 56 accross plus 2 on each side=60

your not understanding the dimensions THE HOLE THAT GOES AROUND THE FORK needs to be HOGGGED OUT 2mm because if you increase the size to 57mm on each side... a 57mm circle WONT go around a 58mm circle it wont fit!!

i hope that you will go back a page and look that the pictures and files explaining the dimensions!

I completely understand, what I meant was 1mm from each side of the clamped on brace the piece making a circle around one fork leg. If you take 1mm from each side of that piece (two pieces), then put it together, it will give you 2mm. 56mm + 2mm =58mm. Its simple math. If you extend the radius of a circle by 1mm, it will extend the diameter by 2mm. diameter=2r (radius), radius being the length from the center of the circle to the outside of the circle.

I think we just misunderstood each other

unless a Ton of money falls into my lap this week i wont be able to get this ti'll the end of the month

but i'm going for it looks like the 76F and the 77K have the same dimensions!!!! so after looking high and low i am pretty confident also now that i fixed my front forks (progressive springs) i'm sorta in need of some progressive rear springs!!!
