That really bites. Especially a second time. I've never had it happen and hope I don't. Mine doesn't sit outside alone much. What security measures have you been using? Fork lock? Chain?

Good luck on recovery.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

That effing bites!

If you know how to use 'crazedlist' you can search all of the craigslist databases at once.

I worry about my bike too, I always lock up the front fork to the frame with handcuffs with the bars turned all the way to left when I park at night or where I just get that vibe.   I know it's not totally secure, but is goes on fast and will slow down a thief, but if they want it bad enough, they'll get it somehow.

They could be parting it out, too.   Maybe I should buy an engraver...

THAT SUCKS!!!

What can you say, meth users....another good source of highway fill.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Do you know any of the SFRC members?  They are a good network for putting the word out about stolen bikes. I would ask to post fliers at Vicious Cycle and the cycle salvage yards in the area.  Good luck.

Thanks for the words everyone.. yea I had the bike covered until Friday and I didn't have a chain lock through the tire like I did on my other bike. My wife saw someone checkin it out Friday eve but I didn't think anything of it since lot's of people like these bikes. I tried to buy a disc brake lock but the guy selling it said I should really bring the bike in before buying the lock... I shouldv'e just bought the damn thing... This bike only had 8000 miles on it so lot's of parts are in good shape which means It'll probably get parted. If anyone sees a low mileage gauges, they'll probably be from this bike...
I don't really know any one in the SFRC and I'll probably make up a flyer to post up at the local shops. I just drove around looking in the neighborhood and I have a few houses to check and recheck in mind. No luck yet.

Say blounstation,

Man that is a massive bummer.  I really feel for you.  Many years ago I had a brand new 1969 Triumph Bonneville stolen.  Had insurance, but would have much rather had the bike.

I have 3 sons living in Portland (I'm in Arizona).  I will contact them with details........ you never know, it might help.

Man I wish you Good Luck.....

I keep my '74 750 K4 chained to an I beam support not far from my front window......... still there has been 6 attempts on it that I know of......... the wife is scared because I keep a .44 Magnum loaded...

Blounstation, Just So That You Know,

I have sent photos of your bike to my 3 sons.  Also gave them details about the vicinity of where it happened in Portland...... mentioned the 8,000 miles on the odometer, etc.......

Told them (my boys) to take note of the lack of a front fender over the front wheel....... told them to call the Portland cops & contact me about anything having to do with a 4 cylinder Honda........ they know what Hondas are like, they've looked mine over quite a few times........ plus one of my sons owned a Honda.......

We will do what we can to help.

Sorry to hear it.  I can't say that I've had a motorcycle stolen (yet), but I have had a $5,000 bicycle stolen, just recently.   It was stolen out of my garage.  I found it, about 3 weeks later......... being ridden down a street not 3 blocks from my house.  Apparently, the dope didn't know what he was riding, and figured it would just blend in (yea, a hand-made 100% titanium framed bike).

Long story short, my thief was introduced to a brick wall, with extreme prejudice.  I hope things work out as well for you!!

My last bike that was stolen turned up a week later 10 blocks from my house pushed into an intersection and left for discovery. The only thing missing from it was some intake boots and it was rode super hard jackin the motor up.... I'll be hopefull but I have a feelin this bike is coming back in pieces if at all....
