1973 CB500 transmission issues
« on: April 15, 2009, 06:06:24 PM »
i've got a 1973 cb500 I just picked up, it's a good bike, runs strong, but there are a few transmission issues that i've kind not sure what to do about.

when idling a stop, or even with the engine off it's nearly impossible to get it into neutral, from first gear or second. if i use a lot of force to bring the shift lever up it gets stuck in the up position. while i'm riding it's fine and shifts pretty freely, but still with a little stick.

this has been happening before and after i changed the oil.

is there anything i can do, check, or replace that might indicate the cause of the problem or solve it altogether? is my transmission shot?

thanks!

Classic clutch drag symptoms.

Adjust/refurbish the clutch.
