Valve Tip Wear- how much is too much?
« on: April 15, 2009, 01:07:40 PM »
How much wear, on the tip of the valve, is too much (thus the valve should be replaced)?  Most of mine are perfectly flat and smooth, but a couple have very slight imperfections on the tip.  Keep 'em as is?  Machine 'em flat?  Replace with new?

I tried to take pictures but just couldn't make them come out.  It looks like an area, maybe 1/3 the diameter of the tip, that looks slightly pitted and is a little rough.  Big deal or no?

One other thing, these are "F2" valves with the black coating.
