putting oil in speedo?
« on: April 15, 2009, 01:43:15 PM »
Hi everyone-- i have just picked up a 1980 honda c70, but the speedometer glass is broken.  I'm going to cut out a new plate of glass, and will epoxy it in.  however, the gauge has been exposed to a little water, and i'm wondering if i shouldn't put some oil in through the bottom of the gauge before i reinstall it.  it was working until a few days ago, now i put it loosely on the cable and it doesn't want to read... it just clicks around the gauge...  maybe i need to tighten the screw?

any advice much appreciated.

u should just accept the fact that your little scooter won't ever go as fast as you want it to.   ;D
put a nice mirror in there instead, for those quick-dos post helmet.   :D

if the speedo doesn't work... don't see why a bit of oil could hurt... try not to get it on the face.
