To be honest I'm not a 550 guy and thought the F model was the only one using chrome. So if they bolt up the same I'd be interested in the one that looks lightest as I'm in weight saving mode for this bike!

Thanks for this

Aftermarket Chainguard for a 1978 CB550K?
« Reply #26 on: January 01, 2007, 10:53:05 AM »
Do anyone know where I can acquire a aftermarket (non-plastic) chainguard for a 1978 CB550K?. I'd like to find a polished aluminium or a stainless steel version if possible. I wrote to Kevin at www.ttr400.com, but have not recieved an answer. I remember Glenn saying that only the "K" versions will fit without modding. Thanks, DrMark

I used a chrome guard from a 400F. Like the 550F the mounts need to be doctored a bit to work.

plastic chainguard?

My K6 is looking to loose some weight, and I was wondering if anyone has had luck finding an aftermarket plastic chainguard that fits CB750s. I know the early ones were plastic.

By the K6 the auto chain oiler was dropped, so you (and your bike) should stay fairly clean with no chainguard.

If you never ride in the rain or through puddles, and wait for your chain lube to solidify before riding, you should stay realively clean...except for the bits of passenger that get chewed on and spit at you. :-\

If you never ride in the rain or through puddles, and wait for your chain lube to solidify before riding, you should stay relatively clean...except for the bits of passenger that get chewed on and spit at you. :-\

I should have added that I use a spray on chain lube and it gets put on when chain is warm..after parking it at home, so nothing does fly off the next day, well almost nothing.  a little rain or a puddle or two don't bother me much.

And anyone brave enough to get on the back should have their head checked not their leg.  Seriously, you would have to be doing something really stupid to get your leg in there!

Hi there,

I'm looking for a chainguard for a 1976 750 Supersport. Mine was bent by the previous owner in a forgotten wheel lock incident.

Thanks,

754 - Can you post a pic?
Thanks Ken

Hopefully, one of them will work. I can forsee a lot of stuff spraying up on me if I don't get one.

I tried to pound it semi-straight, but it's pretty tough steel.

Cant get a pic on.

it looks pretty good but needs cleaning,  a bit of surface rust between front mount and shock cutout (will cleanup nice), but should look pretty good the rest of chrome is good

Post a thread in the main sohc section & find out if they interchange.

20 bux Can, plus shipping.. Greyhound might be cheapest.

I can get the pics up, but looks like it may be better for you to go with 754's from a shipping viewpoint.
Think the chaingaurds for the F models were pretty much all the same, can't remember the exact differences between k and f, but they are a bit longer with wider bolt spacing on the F.

Hey guys,

I thought you should know I found one here in Calgary today. A place called TJ's cycle that strips bikes and stacks the parts for one and all to pick through. I found one that is almost mint for $40.

Thanks for contacting me about your parts, I may be back in the future.

Nice bike Blizzard. If anyone finds a NOS guard please let me know.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

What chainguard on a K1?
« Reply #46 on: April 17, 2009, 09:10:43 PM »
Does the K1 have a black chainguard stock and is it the long one or the short(er) one ?
Look at me....I just take for granted that K1 means CB750K1 !!!!, just like " Two pints, please" in the pub in Ireland ALWAYS means two pints of Guinness !
