Saw Tab Benoit. We broke at least one string every tune. To tell the truth, I felt it was just kind of dumb and distracting after a while. Often times there's a big difference between live and albums.
Roy Rogers is incredible live. His albums are terribly over-produced. He lost me, I'm afraid.

Is Tom Waits blues? Saw him twice- first time around 1973.

Love Memphis Slim (one of my favorites). Leon Redbone singing "I Want To Be Seduced" was my theme song for a long time. Is Big Joe Turner too boogy-woogy to be blues?

Lightnin Hopkins?

I dunno Uncle Ernie but I am making a list of all the new names I see, just started getting my mp3 player setup on my phone and its gonna get crazy in my phone pretty soon.

Oh dirty dishes... Nick, Albert Collins comes to mind, I heard he was known for lookin' like he's attackin' his guitar.

John Lee Hooker is what got me started R.L.Burnside changed what I thought about blues music in todays music and the latest tourch bearers for me are the Black Keys and Patrick Sweany.Great post nice to know there is so much interest in the blues today.

Very proud to be the first one to mention Fleetwood Mac (early.....Peter Green). Tons and tons of good blues out there....past and present. Kudos to the gods.......Alvin Lee,Clapton,Duane Allman,SRV,BB,Albert and Freddy too!!! Anyone remember Johnny Lang from the 90's?

?.....16 yrs. old and totally kickin' the blues a$$!!!!!.......There are loads of goooooooooood blues bands.......John Mayall comes to mind.

OK, so here's my spin...
ALL of the old guys especially Robert Johnson - the man's music gives me chills

Junior Kimbrough, SRV, Clappers, Buddy Guy, Led Zep, The Who, The Stones... this could go on forever!

The Black Keys - Attack and Release is their best yet. Good live - they come to Oz regularly

Johnny Lang can rip out some soul destroying Blues - the clip on the Crossroads DVD is awesome

John Mayer - (at times, but not too much in one sitting)

The Living End - (Not strictly Blues, Maybe Punk Blues Rock?? but they have the best live act I've seen)

Seasick Steve is playing up a storm over here at present

John Butler - (Rootsy Blues)

Jeff Lang - (I'm not a lover of slide usually, but you're missing out if you don't catch him)

Ali Farka Toure' - from Timbuktu (no joke) genuine African blues - google him, you won't regret it

I could go on...

Go on brother, don't hold it back I wanna hear it all. I feel ashamed sometimes living here in KC and being in to the blues for about 8 yrs now since we are known for BBQ'n and the blues. It just hit me one day I wanna say it was a Joe Satriani song that did it, then hearing Kenney Wany Sheperd dit it in and I have been hooked since. Seems to be more of an addiction now with life and all its happenings brings out the blues, that and I am still waiting to get a lefty and get back into what I barley started to get into 15yrs ago and thats pickin'

I've read that K.C. had some awesome players at in the first half of the last century. Jay McShann was a big deal there, and Charlie Parker grew up in K.C. I think Louis Jordan was from there, and wasn't Big Joe Turner a singing bartender there before he went big time?
I wish I grew up in K.C. or Memphis. I also love the music scene around Lafayette LA.

I have to say, the best blues I've ever heard has been at random, hole-in-the-wall joints in New Orleans, by guys I've never heard of and will probably never see again.

I'm sure the same can be said for any number of towns along the Mississippi.

That's what I'm sayin' Gordon, there's some heavy hitters out there that we all know, but theres always that waaaaaay back woods place out in the catskills that got some my momma said to never go here look and kickin' blues and some of the greatest shine in the valley. Along with some of the greatest poeple you'll ever find

If i had one wish it would be that i came up with guitar riffs in Killing Floor!
OK, maybe if i had 3 wishes i would use one of them for that

Hubert Sumlin - how cool is he?

It's not just the Blues either - so much good music came out of the Blues

J.J. Cale,

Hendrix,

Dylan - some of his early Bluesy stuff

Wolfmother, (another awesome Aussie band)

Jackson Browne, - his Solo Acoustic albums are a "must hear" - heart wrenching stuff

Leo Kottke, - hard to classify, but "Eight Miles High" is unique!

Joe Bonamassa, - he cops a lot of flack but he grew up in the midst of it and is brilliant
