It's alive, it's freakin' alive!
« on: April 18, 2009, 04:44:12 PM »
Man, it's been a long winter! Bike is almost done. Does it sound like it's a hair lean by listening to the second rev. It sorta hangs there for a second. I still need to check the timing and do a carb sync so it could be one of those two things.

Anyway, here's a video of the bike running.

Congrats!  There's a lot of hard work in there!

Wanna take a ride to NJ and help a brother out?

On second thought the fun is in the building right?  I'll swap you mine for yours.  Riding is overrated   ;)

Seriously, I can only hope mine looks/sounds half as good...

I like how it turned out. I was going to use a satin finish on the jugs and header but wanted more of a contrast with all the other black painted parts, frame, tank, ect.

Matt,

Hopefully very soon, riding wont be overrated!!! :)

Oh what a feeling eh?  Nice job.

My first start was just the starter.  I got the starter running really well then I decided to try to start the motor.  :D

Hahaha, my first "actual" start was "Click, Click, Click". The ground for the solenoid wasnt attached.

That was after I had it running for about 5 minutes, getting the idle dialed in. Started it up last night, pulled the choke, and it cranked right over. No hesitation.

Im already figuring out what I want to add for next year. Rear sets and a yoshi exhaust. But I put enough money and time into this to last a me a year. At least, that's what the wife says... ;)

Mine hesitates a bit. Sounds great now with the Mac (that is a Mac?) but... Mmmmmm, yosh.

Think I'll listen to yours again ;D

Yeah, it's a Mac setup. I actually like the sound, but man, a Kerker or Yosh sound is sooo much better! At this point, I cant justify the cost since the bike is ridable and the weather is getting nicer.

I really hate the look of my Kerker, it just doesn't go with the bike.  I have a set of black Macs but I think I'll hold out for some Yoshi replicas.

Give it 3-5 minutes idling before you can expect any sense out of the bike, try riding it straight off from cold and you will be hiccuping and coughing for the first mile or so. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

actually i CUT the bracket off the top and turned it and cut the "header" back under the bike and fit it so it was up close to the frame! then i had a bracket welded on up to the passenger peg mount! i think it looks cleaner than the "KerKer" was stock my other thought was to clean up the header pipes and have then powder coated along with the muffler!
