McAllen, Not very windy roads but 16 miles to Mexico! Actually I have been thinking about riding to the mountains by Monterrey, MX. They go up to over 12,000 feet. Monterrey is only 105 nautical miles by air. They have a new highway from the border. Monterrey is over 425 years old and has like over 4,000,000 people. might be interesting.

The wife and I would like to go on a camping trip mid April. We'd like to find a nice park in the hill country and ride around for a couple days. If I can ever get my alternator to put out.

We're going to Lake Spence. Family has property on the lake. Been many years since I've been there.

Had a bike rally in Brownwood the other day, I rode over there on my lunch break to check it out and got the funniest looks from everyone on thier goldwings. Apparently it was a goldwing rally. I twas very interesting being the only one there whose exhaust could be heard a block away. ;D

on east side Lake Lewisville near Hackberry TX. (North of Dallas)  Just bought my "first" bike since 1981. (Actualy my 5th bike in my lifetime) Finaly talked the wife in to letting me have a bike again. (Gas Prices) :P

Found a CB750K8 at Bates in Garland. needed carb work, front pegs, tune-up, tires and a new rear wheel ( old one had rusted all the spokes). Get the bike on the road this past weekend. it is great to be back on the road again. Already getting 44 Mpg compared to 18 in my jeep. All I have left to get her back in top shape is paint, better rear tire and sync the carbs. Paid under $500 for the bike.

Yea... Another Texan.. Located in North Fort Worth.. Been riding bikes forever. No. 1 ride is a 2001  Kawasaki ZRX 1200.
6 Weeks ago I picked up a 1975 Honda CB 550 to tinker, putter with and restore. These last six weeks have really been
about Rust prevention and accessing what this thing really needs.

Hello from the Hill Country
« Reply #40 on: September 22, 2005, 10:10:59 AM »
Yep, that's right. The much coveted Hill Country. I just bought my first bike off of Ebay, and I live in Marble Falls, Texas. (Burnet and Llano county).  I get to drive up to Colorado next week and trailer it home.

here is the Ebay description:
"This 1973 Honda 350 Four is in nice rideable condition. New parts include: battery, brakes, tires, points, plugs, taillight lense, and chain. I changed the exhaust to a 4 into one performance exhaust. The original exhaust was rotted away pretty bad so I didn't even keep it. I changed the tank and rebuilt the carbs. It has an amateur paint job on it. The tires are new and they are OEM style tires. The cables are new but they are the oversized chopper cables."

and pic:

I'll need to track the wires to the horn, which seems to be the only thing not working at the moment, and probably swap out the throttle cable since the chopper length sticks out quite a bit.

Nice to be part of the club!

Hey all!
I'm here in Denton and itching to ride with some other SOHCs!
I'm also from the Hill Country (Boerne) and would love to be part of a ride down there. I just had my Honeymoon near Fredricksburg and Johnson City, and I gotta say I drove some wonderful roads and saw NO cops except on 281. It would be fun to tear 'em up.. without hitting a deer of course ;)

Dallas Cafe Racer here.  I keep looking on the Frapper map and notice I am the only one in the Dallas area that has posted on there.  Any other Dallasites on this board?

I live in Fort Worth but am in the military stationed in Leesville, Louisiana at Fort Polk.  I'm in D/FW a LOT as it's only five hours away.  Would LOVE to meet some D/FW SOHC'ers.

Any good Honda shops in DFW in case there is something I can't fix?

I didn't know there were so many SOHC4s in Texas.

Hey RDRF3 and ZUMA89, I'm in Deer Park (Houston for the rest of you).

Have ya'll seen the latest issue of Ride Texas Magazine.

It lists the top 10 reader's favorite roads (amoung other favorites) in Texas.

It's a cool mag.

Got my cb650 last August, it's my first bike.  My wife actually encouraged me to get a moto cause she like to ride.  I love her!

I've been on a couple of strips, Galveston, Dayton, but nothing over a couple of hours.  My butt gets numb by then.
Most of my riding is taxi service for the kids to their sporting events and practices.

Keep it upright.
Why worry about tomorrow for tomorrow has enough troubles of it's own.
