Shift lever swap
« on: April 20, 2009, 11:48:48 AM »
I did a little searching and didn't find this mentioned already (though I am sure it is).  Hope someone finds it useful.

My wife wanted the shift lever on her 75 CB550K adjusted lower, but the next notch down caused it to hit the header pipe.

I went to the local Cycle Gear and got lucky, finding an aftermarket lever for a YZ125 that was the same length, but with a different bend that allowed it to clear the header pipe.  Doesn't really look out of place, unless you are looking closely.  Because this lever has a shorter 'peg,' it only sticks out maybe a quarter inch further than the stock unit.  Fit the shifter shaft perfectly, though I think I'll throw some thread lock on the cinch bolt.

Looks like this:  http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/ProductImages/OG/0000_MSR_Racing_Aluminum_Shift_Lever.jpg

I can post a pic of it on the bike later if anyone's interested.
