That's actually the one that I have...got it at sears....but doesn't work on K4 bike because of the pipes being below the frame.  That is why I want to sell it and buy the drive on one that will work with any of the bikes.   so if anyone wants to buy mine....it is for sale to anyone who wants it.

do you avoid the shipping cost if it is simply ordered thru the store and you pick it up when it arrives?

dunno about HF but most stores work that way.

I have pulling or replacing my 4 into 1 down to 10-15 mins.
Maybe I will rig up an adapter for the lift to leave them on, but it really isn't too much of a hassle for me.

throw it on craigslist, shipping for something like that is a killer.

I made a stand 15 years ago using scrap lumber; 2 x 4s  for a frame & 5/8" plywood for a top. Screwed it together with drywall screws. It has 6 legs (one at each corner & one on either side in the middle) and I used some 1 x 4s for cross-bracing. Dimensions are 8 ft long, 2 ft wide, 16 inches high. I use a 2 x 10 for a ramp, and I can easily push a bike up onto it by myself. I use a short step stool (home made)  to  help me get up on the platform so I can pull the bike up onto the centerstand. I use tie-downs on the handlebars to the 1 x 4 cross bracing to keep the bike from tipping. I store the ramp underneath the platform, resting on the cross-bracing. I've used it extensively for supporting a '71 Guzzi Ambassador (read as HEAVY).  Last year I got fancy and took the wheels out of a couple heavy duty casters and lag bolted them to the center legs. Now I can wheel the stand around easily, even with a bike strapped onto it.

I made a second one about a year ago that consists completely of plywood. The pieces slide together with slots without the need for screws. When the stand is not in use it can easily be disassembled into flat sheets. Found the plans on the internet.

I've always wanted one of the fancy lifts, but now I can't justify it; my home built platforms work too good.

I have both the jack lift and the table lift. SInce I got the table, I havent used the jack much at all , other than using it to move motors and heavy stuff around.
If you have the space and $ get the table lift.

Someone on this forum a while back made these to adapt the lift on the top with stock exhaust. Who evers  idea it was seems like it would work pretty good. Come forward and get your credit.  ;D

its not a horrible idea, in theory, and i know many people do it... still a bit too similar to putting a rock under a leg of a ladder to even it out, for me.

I don't know.  Looks pretty stable to me, especially with the split pieces of pipe cradling the frame rails.  It looks at least as stable (if not more) than removing the pipes and lifting the bike without the adapter jig.

Princess Auto (Canada) has a jack style lift that comes with an adaptor plate to reach around exhausts etc.

I picked up a $50 automatic wheel chock to keep the bike upright and just work from the floor.  I found with my XS650 project the only time I needed to elevate the bike was when I needed to put the wheels on etc., which would be an issue whether it was on a table or the floor.

If I had the room I'd likely have a table, but I just plunk myself on my stool and work on the bike.  I have a 1 car garage with 3 bikes, a scooter and a car in it, so there's no room for a table.

I did buy a lift a while back, which I used on my 650, but have since sold it.

This is specific to the XS650 and I got it from www.mikesxs.com - may or may not fit a Honda properly but could be made to fit I'm sure.

Bottom of this page - they used to be available in chrome or black, but seem to be chrome now.  At the top of the page is the tuneable fork dampening valves that some people say will fit the 35mm SOHC4 forks at a lot less $$$ than some other places charge.

http://www.mikesxs.net/products-19.html#products

I can get you measurements if you need - bolt spacing for the fork mounts and space between the forks.  That's an 18" wheel, but they're designed to clear a 19" wheel and fender.

Got a $70 Harbor Freight jobber sort of like the one on top.

Goes up, goes down, gets the job done.

Me too.  Works like a charm.....BUT....I still gotta take the pipes off to use it  >:(

I wish I could do something like using some lumber under the frame, but the bike is so low that I can't get the lift under the pipes!, and there's no way to build something that would cleaar and yet safely raise the bike.  I Still have to remove the pipes first.

cut out an 18x14 inch patch in your garage floor and fill it with cement to height- so a bottlejack can fit in there nicely, and add 4 interconnected bottle jacks, with a electric hydrolic pump from a wheelchair lift at the junkyard. add eccentric mounts to the top of each jack foot, and viola! your very own in-floor bike jack. the top of the jack piston screws up about 6 inches if your bike is real high off the ground.

edit: some bottle jacks are double sleeved so they go up about 18 inches.

A fellow Rusted Nut gave me a lift just like that one last weekend.  I plan on making that exact same adapter so I can use it on my sohc4's.  I've been getting by with just a floor jack and a block of wood for the last ten years.  It will be nice to have a new and better option. :)

At some point I'm planning on removing a section of the interlocking pavers in my garage (couldn't dig for a concrete floor - too close to a very large tree and the pavers were a LOT cheaper), dig it out, frame it with treated 4x4 posts and sink a table lift into the floor so it's flush with the garage floor when down.

This is the only way I'll ever fit a table lift into my 12x20 garage unfortunately, unless I convince the wife the car should live outside!

That's gonna be a tough battle!  Once a car makes it into the garage, it's almost impossible to get it out.  Luckily I nipped that one in the bud.  My wife has known since long before we were even married that the garage is for motorcycles ONLY!  If we ever have a 3-car garage, I'd consider/be forced to let her park her car in one side of it.

Well, actually, if we even got a 2-car garage, I'd probably have to build a cover over the driveway to keep her from putting her car in there. ;D

just keep packin' it full and throw a fit every time she wants you to reorganize to make room.   ;)

besides... doesn't that fancy new car of yours come w/ inflatable garage attached to the key that doesn't need to be in the car anyway?

Well the car has been outside for a few weeks now while I've been working on the 650, but it needs to go back in at some point soon.  It's 11 years old, so it's pretty sensitive to being left out in the elements.  Needs to last another year or two also, so I'd best take care of it :)
