I have had an Airtech seat on order from Old Bike Barn since February. Hopefully they can get it out soon.

Something tells me you didn't see this thread in the "Vendor Reviews" section before placing your order.

I'm a little disappointed with Direct Line.  I never did get a confirmation.  4 days after I ordered I sent them an email asking for the status on my order.  On the 5th day I get an email back saying they placed an order for MY parts and would "hopefully" have them in 5 days.  They would then have to receive them in and pick/package to send out to me.  We'll be looking at 2-3 weeks.  Basically they are a broker.  I'd like to figure out where they are buying their parts and buy from them.

Needless to say I will continue to search for a better parts supplier.

I just sent them ae email stating that I need a commitment from them. I ordered a fiberglass seat from them (should have ordered direct from Airtech) in February. Funny thing is, I paid with PayPal, and they had no problem taking the money then. Didn't even mention having to get it from the vendor first.  NEVER, EVER AGAIN!!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:(

I waited over two weeks for a clutch cable and a roll of fuel line.  I even ordered half a dozen generic inline filters that they said they can't get anymore. (WTF?)   Honda Direct's suppliers are listed on their website.  Parts Unlimited is one of them for generic stuff but they get a  lot of their stuff right from Honda.  It might be better time-wise to order from a dealer for stuff they can't get from an aftermarket company.  FYI:  I called Parts Unlimited to set up an account.  They require a $5000 first purchase and then $10000 per year after that.  I didn't think that I could do that.  Anyone here have a PU source they want to use to dole out parts at cost?  It might be a good resource for the forum to start an account with all of it's members as COD customers;  You know, a way to stick it to the man and get good parts cheaply.

Hey Sean,

Get one of those seats with the 3" flat spot in the back ready. I'll be putting in an order as soon as I sell a gas tank.

Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

Sean,

Great start to something good. Don't let it overwhelm you and take the fun out of it.

I noticed a DTT discount but not a SOHC4 discount?? What up with that?
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Think of the discount you could get if you were a member on both forums.

Wait, I AM a member on both forums! ;D

Any chance of a TwoWheeledTexan (dot com) discount on top of those?

How about a picture of those rear sets? When I figure out the direction of my '70 cafe I may be ordering from you.

haha, as is, the fiberglass parts aren't a very high profit item, so 10% is really a steal.  as long as you have build pics, I'd do the discount, lately I've been having issues with people signing up for dtt.com the day of ordering, which sorta defeats the purpose of the discount... no pics of the rearsets though, I can't seem to get the price down for all the machined parts, even with a 50qty for the machining, I'd be looking at selling the pairs for around $400 to make any money.  at that price, I'd probably have them for years... sometimes i hate the business side of this otherwise fun job :)

No worries about me joining DTT just for the discount, I have been on there for a while.
This is me asking about tires http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=2540.0.
Are you replicating rearsets that you currently have?

hey roccity,
what's the deal with your new alloy seats? Seem pretty nice.....are the stamped or welded or both?

Don't see them on your website so are they a limited run item or are you going to be doing them regularly?

Argh...!
If you look at my bike, you'll see an Airtech seat.  I wish you had PM'd me.  I am not happy with it.  The upholstery pan is worthless.  I didn't use mine... $40 shot up the ass.  The seat I got used the factory hinges - but it doesn't fit all that well.  Actually, it fits horribly!  Overall, it is poor quality, especially for the money.

Yes, they have to set up and make each seat.  They're not in stock.  After I ordered mine, I had second thoughts and called in to cancel.  I ordered it on a Friday and called in on the next Monday.  They told me that they would have to charge me 20% to cancel because they already started setting up everything (yeah right!  Over the weekend?!).  Couldn't they not charge me anything and just have that one in stock?!  They told me that they were about to ship it out.  No joke.  As if they made it over the weekend.  Two or three weeks later I got the seat.  They lied to me.

Airtech sucks.  Quality sucks and they lie.  And their upholstery pan is useless - you don't need it.

No!  I would not recommend these underhanded folks.  Best to modify the original seat - look at Hopterfixer's seat as a prime example.

Edit:  I ordered directly from Airtech, not OldBarn.

they're handmade, I built a buck for the fitting up, so they're to spec for the dimensions.  hand hammered and rolled then tig welded and sanded smooth

I've been slacking on keeping my site up to date, but I'll put up the page for the alloy seats today
