Alphabet air cleaners for the SOHC
« on: February 05, 2009, 06:13:46 PM »
A guy over on the do the ton forum is building a 78 cb750 cafe.   Says the bike came with these Alphabet air cleaners made in Australia?

I think they look sweet!

Those do look nice. I do not care for most aftermarket filters but those are cool!

I have a set of those I used years ago on a chop.Looked at them this summer and a mouse had moved in one and chewed the foam out bad, looked like a real comfy home though. :D

They look a lot like a modified twin barrel car carby air cleaner, might be do-able with a couple of ramflow dome cleaners

I ran those on stock 750 cars and on Webers.

However, last time I went to put them on my Webers the foam was crumbling, and by rubbing it would keep coming off, so I snever ran aircleaners since.

So check the foam, before you run them. Also anyone knowing where you can get fresh foam, please let us know.

The filters were also under the name Lynx and ether Warnford Design or Branford design, and maybe a few other names..

After I kicked out the inhabitants I did not think the foam was going to be a big deal to replace. That original stuff that was in there does-did degrade. Would not want the old girl to suck that stuff up----NO I AM TALKING THE CARBS- Anyway will post some pics sometime and maybe throw them out to the Cafe guys. Got to get back to the K1 - K8 which is faster debate------------ ???
