1978 cb550k carb question
« on: April 22, 2009, 06:13:28 PM »
I was rebuilding my carbs when I noticed that my slow jet was a 42 instead of the stock 38 as stated in the service manual.  My question is will this be a problem?  Everything else is stock.  The reason I was working on the carbs was that the bike will not stay at a steady idle it seams to go from stumbling to racing. Any information would be welcome. Thanks

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Thanks .  I am new at this and it looks like I bought a bike with very little information on it.  Do you know what would cause the idle to go from slow to fast all the time?

Air leak? Bad timing? Carbs out of sync?
