V-10 Ford engine?
« on: May 06, 2009, 03:35:10 PM »
Just wondeing if anyone here has experience with the Ford V-10 engine.
I have a chance to buty a very nice 1997 work van for a reasonable price, but it has the V-10 in it.
I have a 1997 F-150 with the 4.6 triton and have no complaints.
How's is the MPG on this engine and is there any problems I should know about?

I think it's the same engine family as the triton. Same parts just 2 more cyls.  Guy I used to race with had one about that same year van and never had problems with it while I knew him. Thats all I can say.
18 grand and 18 miles dont make you a biker

we had one that we used to pull a big trailer with....it TOTALLY SUCKED
no torque for pulling up hills and no compression for engine braking on the down side
ended up trading it in for a powerstroke diesel
Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

diesel is the only way to go when talking about a heavy duty pickup. the polo barn i ran, we had 2 pre 2001 ford powerstroke f350's they pulled that 10 horse gooseneck trailer like it wasnt even there. and the diesel lasts for forever.
