350F Carb slide position
« on: October 26, 2005, 11:00:15 PM »
So rather than tackle a carb rebuild on my bike I bought a "rebuilt" set on eBay.  They look OK, but looking at the slides I notice that their positions are not "even" when in idle/closed positions.  One in particular is higher in it's cylinder than the others.  So, obviously, the volume of fuel at idle through full throttle will vary slightly.  So my question, what is the easiest way to adust the slides to an equal opening position?

Technically, the way to sync the slides is to install the carbs and light the bike off. Have the carb sync tool hooked up, and make final adjustments this way.

A static way of doing it, is to set a tiny drill under the slide and adjust each slide to the height of the drill.

You are much better off syncing the carbs on a running bike. The time you waste with the drill... usually gets the bike in the ball park, but  the final setting is using the sync tool anyway.

Sounds like the idle adjustment screws are not set properly, question is which ones need adjusting, the one that is too high or the others that are too low. Check the service manual for the correct, ballpark idle screw adjustment.
