Greetings from Italy
« on: April 25, 2009, 05:42:14 AM »
Hallo,
my name is Maurizio, 51 years old, married with Carla, and I am an "old" new owner of a '76 Honda CB 750 F.

It was my father's bike, back in the seventies, and I drove it a few times when it was brand new (and I was barely eighteen), but I always have been an offroader...

Since my father left us in 1996, the bike was stored in a garage, and me and my wife decided on last September that it deserves to be used. I follow my wife's need to have a "cruise" bike, and when the old CB was trailed away from that garage, she really felt in love with it, also because it remembers us of my dad.

A quick "restoration" was done, consisting mainly in some washing, a cleaning of carburetors, tank and brakes, and the change of battery and all fluids and filters, as the bike had a little bit more than 2000 km on the clock.

So, now, after some typical Italian boring and time consuming  bureaucratic procedures, the bike has become my almost daily driver, as the other rig in the stable is a mainly offroad biased KTM 690 enduro.

Now it's time for me to sit and read around in the forum.

Regards, Maurizio
Maurizio

Turin, Piedmont, north western Italy.
Very close to the Western Alps and lots of alpine roads, both tarmac and dirt... ;)

Greetings from Colorado in the US.

REALLY nice bike. Take good care of it as your father had. Looks original except perhaps for the handlebars. The European version had a few differences from the US. Turnsignals and front fender.

Jerry

EDIT:

I just noticed the rear "fender" thing behind the tire. That is definitely different as I haven't seen that before. Can you provide any information about that?

Jerry, and everybody, first of all thanks a lot for your welcome!

Well, the bike is completely original, except for grips and point cover, that have been changed years ago due to a soft drop made by dad while moving the bike in the courtyard; and this is the reason for the lack of the rubber thinghies on top of the levers, as the right one was a little scraped and I removed both of them (a couple of new ones is on the road to my home).

The rear fender rubber extension was standard on Euro spec'd bikes, or at least in the Italian ones, as were lower handlebars, smaller turn lights and different front and rear fender from the US bikes: i don't' like it so much, but it has that nasty retro look, and it belongs to the bone stock originality of the bike.

Now there are some other non original parts, of course, as battery (a brand new Yuasa, pretty similar to the original FB) and a couple of new Dunlop GT 501's as the bike will be used and I don't trust the oem 33 years old Dunlops, even if in perfect shape.
