Topic: CB550 luggage rack mounting points?

Those of you with luggage racks, where do they mount up to? i know it depends on the model and year for each rack, but i cant seem to figure out if i can use one... you see, i dont have a rear fender or grab rail, and i'm wondering if that will nix the possibility of a rack....

Luggage racks that I have, connect at the rear shock mount, the fender bolt, and either the grab bar, or the rear tail light.  The grab bar is much preferred over the rear lamp mount, as the lamp mount transfers rack loads to the fender, which causes the fender to flex, and eventually bend then crack.
At least, that's been my experience with the Cb550s.

that looks like just four mounting points...the top shock bolt... and dont know exactly to what else (i'm picking up the CB from my brother in two weeks)

you can see that the fender and grab rail were removed from my future bike, turn signals are bolted in place of the grab rail



 (the sidemounted license plate is gone now, so it shouldnt interfere...)

suppose i could just wait til i get the bike... but i'm anxious. lol

You can just use the shock mounts and the holes where you have your signals. I made some standoffs(painted black) from a piece of hollow steel stock so the mount would fit properly. I have LOADED it down when I go on camping trips, no problem.
You may notice, I have no turn signals, so that made it a bit more simple.
