i wave at everybody on a bike.  if they dont wave back i lock up the back break, spin 180 and follow them.
at just the right moment i pull along side and kick them in the head. so far thats worked real well for me.
don't take me too seriously.

Gak!  Who the heck is making up these rules?  These people must be located and soundly thrashed.

I wave at anyone, regardless of brand.

I tried to get the Geo Metro wave going, but I had real pride.
Everyone I waved at looked really p!ssed that they had to drive a tiny little car cuz it was all they could afford.

...well who's laughing now?

I'm glad this was started. I've actually had this conversation in the last couple weeks.
It's good to find out that 1 or 4 fingers off grip is acceptable, because I want to be comfortable  before I start screwing around with my hands off bars.
As for riding passenger, I nod, if their passenger nods. I do not signal.
I'm gonna be throwin 4 fingers out to the left. Gotta keep reppin my sohc4! ;D

I tried rocking the Tan '99 Camry wave, but then I realized I was just spending the commute with my arm stuck out the entire time...

As for crotch-rocketeers and Harley-quins, I'm still working on my research there.  I think that them both waving to each other, or both ignoring each other is the motorcycle snob equivelent of dividing by zero...however, the universe hasn't imloded yet, so we shall see.

For the most part, I'm 2 wheels 1 love.

Until the CB750 is finished, I have no idea what kind of wave, if any, will happen.  When I am out on the BSA Lightning, the reactions are mixed.  Old H-D riders will mostly wave as they recognize the bike.  The younger ones and the RUBS have no idea and generally ignore me, same with the crotch rockets.  As a side note, I was looking to have the wheels trued for the CB750 and wandered into a small shop .  When asked what kind of a bike the wheels were for, the guy behind the counter said "My daddy told me there is only 2 kinds of bikes, Schwinn's and Harley's.  And I don't work on Schwinn's."  Needless to say the wheels were not trued there.

I don't wave only because owning a motorcycle does not automatically make me friends with a million people.  I return waves though because I think that's polite.  When some cruiser dude gives me one of those half-hearted point at the ground waves, I always return it with one like the guy in the blue suit!

ah yeah, I'd have asked for the prices, looked at the wheels, and said "Well, that's x amount you're not getting for my wheels!  Thank your daddy for savin' me the cash."

I wave, no matter what, unless I'm shifting/turning. Makes sense, right? As riders, we share a brotherhood, IMO. That's why we are here, on this board.

A friend of mine just recently got his licence, and began riding about town. He came to me one day and fessed that he had no clue why every other rider were waving at him!
I laughed out loud. I guess if you don't know...   ;D

I wave at all those on two wheels, even the scooters.  I have also found that Harley riders are least likely to wave back.

However, I did wave at one of my buddies the other day and he didn't return it.  I texted him later and he said he just wasn't paying attention...kind of scary but whatever!  :D

I'll wave at everybody on two wheels, but I've seriously seen a few harley guys almost lose control trying to wave back. I suppose it's the same with some scooter riders too, I've ridden them before and it's a little scary to take one hand off the bar.

But the all-time funniest thing I've seen was a forty-something couple on a harley bagger, he waved back and she punched him in the shoulder for it, what a riot!

One of the most important things to remember is not to wave at anyone if you can't remember the last time you checked your tire pressure.

... I don't get it.

Another thing I find amusing. Once I crossed paths with a Hell's Angel, He gave me a smile and a nod. I was on my Hondamatic 400.

+1. If not a wave, then a nod. If they wave back or not, doesn't bother me. Crotch rockets almost always wave whether I'm on the CB or the RD. Cruisers usually don't wave, especially if I'm on the RD. They're probably thinking, "WTF is that thing!"  :D

I was in my car driving behind two cruisers and they would wave and receive waves from every cruiser they met. Although they didn't wave to the crotch rockets. I pointed it out to wifey and she thought it was just too funny.

Ever turn around and "ride with/closely behind" a dude that didn't wave? I did it once. It's fun - knowing he's embarrassed to be riding alongside a mighty Honda and squirrelly looking dude with aviator goggles..... ;D

I also wave at everyone, and generally they all wave back...even scooters, but I am Canadian AND on the East Coast (which has a rep for being friendlier than the rest of the country)

I always to wave at scooters....it might be my wife and well, that would be rude of me

I had a guy not wave at me the other night.
i was riding solo with a bandana on my face, my big aviator goggles, and a hoody. Pulled into the gas station to grab a pack of smokes and he pulled in about a minute later, to get gas. I had pulled off my goggles that were holding my hair back and pulled down my bandana. When I went back outside to suit up, he walked past. He broke his neck looking at me and said, " Whoa....Hey there. " I just turned my key and fired it up and flipped my goggles down.
I was polite enough to "nod" at him as I was pulling out of the station.  :D :D :D

He looked pretty dumbfounded.
