CB500 K1 Exhaust
« on: October 25, 2005, 09:20:23 AM »
Hello.
I have a 500 four k1 at the moment which is in need of a complete new exhaust system. Can anyone recommend a suitable system? I'm not looking for om parts just something the works well, looks good and makes a bit of noise (this is the 'whoring around windey Irish roads on a saturday afternoon' bike so a bit of noise is nice). thanks in advance for any advise offered.

I use the MAC system on my K2.
It fits perfectly, not too expensive and has a nice
brassy note right around 3k rpm.

Bikes parked out front mean good chicken-fried steak inside.

If you are in Ireland you may find the Marchall "deeptone" system easier and cheaper with shipping. Motad will be quiet and if you can find a second hand one (not made new for many years) a piper will wake the dead
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

I had a Piper (see avatar) and Bryan is correct. It was bloody loud (detatchable baffles...) and lasted about 2 years. Not seen one since...

I have a Motad on my 76 F1 and it is much too quiet for my tastes; the bike sounds more like a car than a motrbike!!

thanks men, I'll check out that deeptone system you mentioned, the piper sounds (is that a pun?) great. I'll let you know how I get on.

cheers.

Loudfastugly.com has a great exhaust system for the CB 500 and 550.  I have one on my CB500 and it works and sound great.  It is not too loud, but still sings a great song at 8000 RPM.  The price is right at about $220.  See my avatar to see what it looks like.
