Why you need to take your cell phone when you ride.

Something very similar happened to one of my son's co-workers.  The only difference was, he had a cell phone and called his wife to help him.  He still has both legs and totally recovered.

Damn, that must have aired when I was watching the kids this last week. I watch News 10 nightly and missed this one. I live in the Sacramento Delta so it is kinda close to home.

Ya know what's weird..i live in Benicia California and i went to school with him!!

Iv never ridden without my cell phone. I always have it for safety reasons and also incase I were to break down or what not.

I always have my cellphone on me, weather I am on a bike,foot,etc...
Always nice to be able to call someone if something happens...

I always have the cellphone, too. Unfortunately, it was between my right hip and the pavement when
I came off the bike. Result, smashed cellphone...no workie.  ::)

On another forum, at least two people have come off bikes and were unable to find their phones as they
went one way and the phone the other.

I don't know the answer for this.....maybe put it in the tankbag?

I'm not a cell phone guy, I don't carry it around with me everywhere and I don't have it attached to my belt. Usually I don't know where it is, but I always carry it with my when I ride if for no other reason than to call my wife and tell her I'll be an hour later then I initially said! ;D

to contact your friends or whatever if you are in struggle,i need that,but i dont like to use a cellphone while driving.

cellphones are an invention from the devil  ;D i cant stand the damned things, mine is never turned on but i admit it's alot better than my old method of trying to summon help, cb radio, AND cant carry one of those on the honda anyways. phone has saved me a couple of VERY long walks after the honda broke down on me way out in BFE

Had a flat tire and called for help once.  Saved a really long walk to a phone somewhere, and help arrived within 30 minutes.  It's also nice when you can call and not have to leave the bike unattended somewhere.
My phone can also get weather radar, which is nice if the sky starts to get dark.
