Don't stuff those blue paper shop rags into your carbs to choke them
because some of the paper may tear off and get stuck in your
throttle slide and hold it Wide Open when you start the bike for the first time
in 4 months.
--kill switch may have saved the day--not sure yet

That machine has a Honda XL600 motor (single, 4 valves, dual carb, dual exhaust, magnesium cases, 50 horses)
that I stuffed in a CB360 frame.
Started it up later seemed O.K.--still backfiring though.
CDI ignition--not much to do there--hopefully it's just rich.

Hmmm, Ill have to look into this XL600 you speak of.

Don't worry about the back firing, that's from cycling the kill switch while running. My four wheeler does it too.

That reminds me of something that happened to me a year ago...or so.

I was out riding through the woods on my Husky 400 enduro.....and the top of the round slide mikuni vibrated off.

I never thought the engine was capable of such high rpm's.... :o

I had the 360 frame plus a title that goes with it.
The 360 engine went into an earlier 3-wheeler.
The engine is a little tall for the frame but I'm sure it weighs less than the original 360 motor.
I think the '83 version that I have was that only one with 2 carbs.
It is essentially the same engine that's in the GB500.
Mine is 589 cc's.
The engine is dry sump so you'll need to add an oil tank to whatever frame you choose.
I also replaced the rear swing arm with a longer one
inorder to move wheel back and give room for the oil tank.
A heavier frame might be be a good idea since I can feel flex
in the 360 frame when the hammer is dropped.
The engine does seem to be O.K. --after it's brush with death.!

another thought was to follow the lead of others; some are converting their xl600 to street tracker. but i think one could wrangle out a cafe bike too. i'll post one man's blog on his (impressive) transformation in the other bikes category. i like the kick start over the later model's electric only.

a little flex when the hammer is dropped? that must be entertaining! what swing arm did you use? i get the impression that some sohc arms interchange.

anyway, thanks for sharing.
