Cal said you have some spare 550 brake parts -- 2nd rotor and caliper.  If you have no use for them, let me know.

I sure do! I'll trade you for a ride on your 550. I want to make sure I fit on it :)

Deal on the trade!  Unfortunately, the 550 is not currently rideable.  I'm pulling off the old wiring harness to be replaced by my NOS reproduction harness and other wiring upgrades (blade fuseblock and regulator/rectifier).  I'm also replacing the crusty very old original tires for some spare Avons I had laying around.  Andrew's taking a look at the tank to pull the dings and see if the paint will sand out.  If not, that will get a new coat of Candy Jade Green, with new decals.

I managed to make it up to the Garage Company's Open House today, co-hosted by Loser Machine clothing.  Free beer, hot dogs, chicken, screen t-shirts, plus Yoshi's VERY cool shop open for all.  (http://www.garagecompany.com/)

Just a reminder to all of those in the SoCal area, Corsa Moto Classica will be taking place this year on April 25-27th, at Willow Springs.

Directions:
From Los Angeles, take I-5 FWY North to the CA-14 to Palmdale / Lancaster (about 55 miles)
to Edwards AFB exit. Left on Rosamond Blvd 5 miles to Willow Springs Raceway.

If you haven't gone before, it is worth making the trip.  All kinds of cool vintage bikes, vendors, a bike contest, plus vintage racing (bikes and sidecars).  Check out the Garage Company web-site for pictures of last year's CMC.

Arghh!!  $h#t!  The chrome headlight bucket I purchased is too small to accommodate the LED bulb housing.  I found another one that I am hoping will work.  Otherwise, I will swap back to a halogen bulb and a plastic bucket.

I trolled CL down in SoCal with no luck, but I did find one of fleabay.  The one I purchased last week said it would take a 7" sealed beam lens, but was just plain wrong.  Returning it.  The new one is supposed to arrive Friday.  Keeping my fingers crossed!!

A hearty WOOOHOOO!!!  The replacement headlight bucket arrived in the mail this afternoon, and it FITS!!  I should have this baby back on the road tomorrow!!!  I cannot wait.

I also took Doctor D's lead again and swapped out my drilled stock GL brake discs for a pair of brand new EBC discs and new pads.  I'm looking forward to breaking them in tomorrow!

I took it for a fun ride up to The Garage Company run by Yoshinobu Kosaka aka Yoshi.  Yoshi was digging the bike big time, which was a really cool compliment.  I rode further up to Venice and Malibu and back.  The bike ran flawlessly.  I can't wait to ride it again tomorrow!

Don, I'm envious sounds like a great ride. Were getting dumped on up here this Saturday. Riddle me this, what kind of set up on the brake lines did you use on the K7?  I want to order my braided stainless but they want extra big bucks for custom lines.  My bike is lowered 2" I'm roughly looking at 3 lines and a tee, 10", 20" and 30".  Do you recall what yours were?

Rain in California should be relegated to non-weekend days! 

Since my MC is modern and has an integrated brake switch, I just have two lines running 30" each.  Mine are a little on the longer side.  You could go shorter to 27" and still have plenty of slack with full turn lock each way.  If you are lowered 2", I would probably go less than 30".

Before I throw this part out in tomorrow's garbage pick-up, here's a cautionary tale about form over function:  A prior builder lasercut my rear brake plate with a scripted "Cafe Racer" for purposes of aesthetics and to vent the rear brakes.  Metal fatigue was obviously not given ample consideration.  With the heating and cooling of the rear brakes with use, the letters broke off, and several pieces fell into the brake drum!  Not good.

I have long since excised the "Cafe Racer" emblazoned parts on the bike with more practical and more aesthetically pleasing parts.  But here's a good lesson to think about.

I have a wall of shame, I mount the item on a piece of wood or metal with the makers name and cost I couldn't recover to remind me to think twice spend once!  Doesn't always work but makes for great shop talk.  I queried the same builder once on an item built for 69-76 SOHC bikes he advertised to fit all bikes.  No problem he says, just move XY&Z on your 77-78, shouldn't make any difference? Decided to make my own, not quite as Purdy but I know it works!  I have a set of black clubmans I purchased new from a guy in Canada, turned out to be a piece of crap, oh he would take it back alright, at my expense to send it, which made it not worth the effort.  I'm still looking for the appropriate piece for a mount for those! Consequentially I try not to buy outside the USA.  Yours is much to Purdy to chuck it, turn it into something positive?  Might make a nice base for a lamp?  I think I saw the same guy selling lamps made out of bike parts, likely stuff he was forced to refund on!  Yours has a perfect hole in the center for a pipe to run wires through, attaché a cup on the stopper tab for paper clips, larger for pens and pencils or glue one of the those little coffee mug warmers on it to keep your cup warm out in the garage?  LOL  You Funny Don

Dear NO, I have no problem with Canadians, Eh, just the postage is very expensive, alrighty.  Hey Bill drive down to the border and I'll get my cousin Mark who lives in Silver Bay, MN to chuck it over the fence to Ya, Eh. I'll send you money for your time and expenses and would still come out ahead of the postage rates Don't Ya Know!  Just kidding, some of the most beautiful country in the world up there and the Snowbirds CAF demonstration team is one of my all time favorites.

yes guys I was only kidding just to make it a little lighthearted as bad as you think it is in the us we have to get everything from the states cant even get something as mundane as a hd camchain up here so far so good for me as I have never had a deal go bad from a us seller!you both have such nice bikes and places relatively close to get all your great stuff!and yes the postal thing is a sore spot for sure seems to be better when you deal with a private person instead of a business .sorry to crash your thread and again nice bikes!bill
