« on: April 28, 2009, 05:15:52 PM »
Just noticed oil seeping out between the top of cylider and head. does this mean my head gasket is gone ? there is only 20,000 km (12,000mi.)  on the bike.

Could be the head gasket, could be the "sealing rubbers" or "pucks".  If your engine is in good shape (good compression, pulls well) then you may want to live with the leak if it isn't too troublesome.  Rolled up paper towel jammed between the fins will soak up the oil, change when saturated.

With the 550, it can be done in frame.  I prefer OEM, but hear Veresh (sp?) are pretty good.  Avoid Athena.  There is a thread recently started (may be on page 2 or 3 now) detailing the parts you need to assemble.

A manual would be a great place to start!

You'll find this thread interesting.  There is a pic of a Vesrah kit in there even.
