Finding Parts
« on: April 30, 2009, 07:42:03 AM »
I have seen alot of posts that ask "Where can i find THIS Part?".  Well alot of the answers that are given are to different dealers for the same vendors.  Many of which sell from either Parts Unlimited, Tucker Rocky, Western Power Sports, or   K & L.  Instead of a) paying outrageous shipping prices b) dealing with minimal or no communication from the retailer and c) having to ship it back at your expense if there is something wrong, why not find a local retailer for the same vendors.

Most dealerships have access to these vendors and have the books sitting right on the parts counter.  Places like Cycle Gear offer more personalized service because that is all they do is sell aftermarket, and offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

There are still alot of parts and accessories available for our bikes, you just have to know how to look for them.

As a plus, you support your local economy, and could make some really good friends or sources this way.

Sorry to be negative, but I have yet to find any place local that could give a crap about customer service and be even near the same price I can pay even after shipping. The honda shop close to me won't take any returns on stuff they have to order in... For the most part gone are the days of customer service, knowledgeable parts people, and decent prices.

I'd love to find a place local to support, but I'm not going to pay 30% more on a given part.

Highly recommend hondapartsnation.com. Dealer is in Ypsalanti,Mi. Advertises as 30% of list price on NOS Honda parts. Compared with quote from local dealer and was 30% almost to the penny. Placed order for 19 NOs parts for 77 750 Hondamatic and had them in 5 days, no backorders. Saved almost $200 from ordering from local dealer.

Another great site that I have found is http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/
Their price and shipping is very competitive.
BTW, all of the motorcycle dealers or repair shops in my area, and there are quite a few, charge ridiculous prices for parts.  I can get the same parts shipped to my house at a fraction of the cost.  I agree, making a friend at your local repair shop is a good thing, but at what expense.
