OK, now I need a bit of help...

Got the K1 together and out of the house today.  Not started in about 6 years per the PO.  New battery, carbs rebuilt, bench sync, oil, etc.  It fires up nice.  Idles perfect and all electrics are working.  I put it into gear and let out clutch and main 15A fuse blows.  Tried a 20A fuse (against my idea) and same thing.  The fuse does not blow until I am in the process of letting out the clutch and she starts to move. Can anyone help me cut to the problem.  I am on my way to get some more fuses.

sounds like theres a short in that switch housing and when you go to release the lever it hits something and shorts

So I go to Autozone & Honda dealer - no fuses.  Drive over to NAPA and get some 15A.  Put a brand spanking new 15A fuse in and no problem?  Dang, I hope it was just old fuses?  I did clean off the fuse contacts during the restore.  So I took it up and down the road and shifted all gears and works nice.  I just hope this does not happen again down the road.  It may take a few miles for me to trust it?  But if anyone has had this similiar problem let me know.  Thanks again.

I have a 550 wiht a mysteriously blown fuse.  I put another in and it worked fine.  I've seen fuses (brand new) blow internally because they weren't put together correctly.  Plan a long trip.  You'll find your problem then but not until you get half way there.

Bring lots of extra fuses along also.

Yes, I do plan to carry fuses with me.  I just got back from a 10 mile ride and no problems.  Usual head weep that I expect on all these bikes.  Here is a pic of it below.

Nice very nice stock bike, damn these old ladies look far too good when refurbished to turn into someone's idea of a road racer.
Fuses are like every other consumable, shelf life is dependant on storage.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

So the 77 swapped the place of the starter solenoid and the voltage regulator?
Or did those get switched in the rewiring?

anyways no everything is in stock location as per 77-78K /F bikes... and maybe some earlyer ones as well (maybe 76??)

anyways i got a 4 pos fuse box and cut my old wires off the fuse box and soldered them onto the new one and painted the "clear" top black to keep the apearence the same... then i got a new 6pin connector from oregon motor cycle parts! and mounted the fuse box on a piece of sheet metal and drilled 2 holes for the old mount... it woudlnt mount the same as the stock one.. which seemed to work out better in the long run you should really try this along with getting new harness plugs from those guys my charging system is LIKE NEW! no more chargning issues here! and it looks really clean... my next step is i made a templite for the "sticker" on the old fuse box to put on my new one... i'm getting it printed at staples...

Very nice job...I like the idea but not sure if it would work on an early KO or K1?  I really like the idea.

you could keep you stock wireing and add some accessories??
