Does your Jeep have a suspension lift?  Is the shaking accompanied by any noises?  Does the clunking occur only with accelerator pedal application or also in and out of gear?

the clunking is from my own vocabulary in this thread.. the original poster said nothing about a clunk.

and actually, my new snow tires don't clunk... they're just loud with a bit of unbalanced thump.

I have searched the web and have found alot of stuff about the death wobble.  There is never just one (or two) possibilities.  Basically, like you guys have said, it could be any component of the suspension.  I'll start with the easiest/cheapest things and work my way from there.  As long as it doesn't get worse, I should be fine.  I'll cut back on interstate travel a little.

I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks,

Chris

even my mercedes benz would be considered a beater to a good portion of the population... for me, it is one of the best cars i've ever owned.

perspective, my friend, perspective.   ;)

it is usually a bad trac bar. lower control arm bushings will do it. along with bad shock. Just type in death wobble and you will find all sorts of stuff.
I have a 93 lifted.
